Disappointed. your personal robot Well-Known Member Nov 11, 2008 3,606 3 0 nonverbalist Berlin #3 your personal robot, Jul 17, 2011 Sucker for platformer, therefore I had to download this immediately. AND after level 1 I quickly have to jump in to say: WOAH!! Music, graphics = fantastic, full of love and detail!! And the controls are pretty original and perfect for the idevices. Your bean character is jumping all the time, so you just have to control the movement to the sides. Works great! Will have to play more. But the first level was already brilliant. The graphics! You have to see them in motion. Lovely pixel heaven... together with the music. I'm smiling. Could become my new favorite platformer... But that's just after level 1... so, playing more now AOR Well-Known Member Jun 27, 2011 207 0 0 Independent game developer San Francisco #4 AOR, Jul 17, 2011 I am loving screenshot 6. Maybe a lil bit expensive for this content nah ? your personal robot Well-Known Member Nov 11, 2008 3,606 3 0 nonverbalist Berlin #6 your personal robot, Jul 17, 2011 Aaaaaaaaah!!! So far, only one world with 8 levels! Devs clearly wanted the game to be out and add more content in the future... but I think, with platformers it's the wrong way to go. Content is king. And I love these 8 levels, introducing a lot of elements. Vertical levels, switches, physics stuff with balls and stones, secret paths.... everything is really absolutely top-notch. Also high replay value for different goals (finish the level using as few jumps as possible, collecting your buddy Axolotl (lol), collecting all diamonds). Devs, please bring more worlds, this could be one of the best (if not the best platformer in the store). And a little story would be lovely too. The characters are fantastic. Why not giving us kind of an intro. arta Well-Known Member Feb 14, 2009 6,902 1 36 #7 arta, Jul 17, 2011 Nice impression your-personal-robot. I am so glad I forked over those 3 dollars...this game's amazing. Not sure why some of the game isn't retina considering how small it is, but the graphics are gorgeous. Much like Mos Speedrun, To-Fu and 1-bit Ninja, the game makes sure you play each level more than once....once to get the perfect jump count, once to collect all diamonds and once to find your pet. I'm genuinely impressed here. As syntheticvoid would say...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! iamseamonster Well-Known Member Mar 8, 2010 214 0 0 #9 iamseamonster, Jul 17, 2011 This game rules. So polished its crazy it hasnt been promoted and highly anticipated. At least I havent seen anything about it before today. Normally I never buy games the day they come out unless they're 99 cents, I knew from the screens and description I'd love this one though and I gotta say after just 3 levels this is absolutely worth 2.99. There looks to be a decent amount of content and there's plenty of replayability with the diamond collecting, axolotl finding and perfect jump awards for each level. Graphics are wonderful and nicely animated. Levels are well designed. The Checkpoint system is great - you can restart a level from the last checkpoint at any time. This helps avoid having to replay an entire level to collect everything. Can't say anything about the music as I'm playing in bed next to my sleeping girlfriend. But I'm sure its just as quality as the rest of the game. The only thing I would change would be to lessen the inertia/momentum effect when moving and speed up the jumping just a little. I was hoping for something that controlled like Super Spike Dislike. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,343 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #10 metalcasket, Jul 17, 2011 I take back what I said. :/ I just can't recommend this in it's current state for $2.99. Yes, more levels are coming, but 8 levels for 3 dollars is a tough sale. your personal robot Well-Known Member Nov 11, 2008 3,606 3 0 nonverbalist Berlin #11 your personal robot, Jul 17, 2011 Actually, I really love that it's a bit floaty... just fits the character. I guess, they did it on purpose, since it's still fun. I'm fine with it. But I guess, many people might want to see that improved. iamseamonster Well-Known Member Mar 8, 2010 214 0 0 #12 iamseamonster, Jul 17, 2011 I disagree. The sheer amount of thought put into every detail by the devs deserves the money so they will have the motivation to add more levels. It would be a shame for this game to go unsupported and die. This is the first platformer for iPhone that gives me the same feeling I get when playing the classic Mario, Kirby and Sonic games. your personal robot Well-Known Member Nov 11, 2008 3,606 3 0 nonverbalist Berlin #13 your personal robot, Jul 17, 2011 I'm also loving it a lot. But I'm sure, this game will earn a lot of bad ratings due to the lack of content (which is especially important for platformers). And this is sad, because besides the amount of levels, this game is pure brilliance. The devs should have waited and first finish the game, then release a bigger package. Reviews would be raving. Now, everyone will say, it's great but caution, it's way too short.... will affect sales and ratings. Reminds me of Pizza Boy. Another game, that's easily one of the best platformers out there, but also way too short. We just can hope that the devs will hurry. FL!ppY Well-Known Member Sep 13, 2010 407 0 0 #14 FL!ppY, Jul 17, 2011 Exactly what i was about to write. I think i'll wait for the first update before buying it. Price doesn't matter, but with more content, this game will be an instabuy for sure. And i'm sure, i'll post a 5 stars review. Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #15 Gabrien, Jul 17, 2011 I looked at this last night. While the game looks good I can't really justify buying it for that price with that amount of content, if only on principle alone. Particularly as the amount of content does not seem to be particularly well advertised. Additionally the number of 5 star reviews that appeared in the app store within a fairly short period of time make me a little suspicious. In any case I agree this should either have been released with more content or at the minimum (at most) price. If the game is actually any good this release is doing it a disservice. Dazarath Well-Known Member Mar 21, 2010 1,745 0 36 #16 Dazarath, Jul 17, 2011 So tempted to buy this based on the impressions in this thread and the graphics, but 8 levels does seem a bit short. I'm just a bit worried because we've all seen devs promise X/YZ and then disappear off to nowhere (usually because sales were poor). Actually, excluding a select few devs, I rarely purchase games based on future promises. I ask myself, is the game with its current content worth the price? On the other hand, though, making the purchase now would help boost sales a bit, slightly increasing the incentive to deliver the extra levels. your personal robot Well-Known Member Nov 11, 2008 3,606 3 0 nonverbalist Berlin #17 your personal robot, Jul 17, 2011 I sent the devs some feedback via email and already got a very kind reply.
