Exclusive ‘Rimelands: Hammer of Thor’ Trailer Teases Plot and Gameplay

Dicework Games, creators of the steampunk puzzler Diceworks [99¢] in collaboration with Crescent Moon Games, the developers behind both Ravensword: The Fallen King [$4.99 / Free] and the upcoming Ultra Kid: Mystery of the Mutants are nearing the finish line in releasing the first of what sounds like a series of turn-based roleplaying games for the iPhone.

Rimelands: Hammer of Thor is going to come loaded with multiple classes to play as, each customizable with talents. The game world consists of both pre-made and randomly generated levels in a game world that is said to be light-hearted and adventurous while still supporting more epic and serious undertones.

The Rimelands web site is absolutely loaded with information about the game, including lore to set the scene of the Rimelands game world. So far everything we’ve seen from this new partnership between Diceworks and Crescent Moon has been extremely impressive. The art looks great, the Rimelands universe sounds cool, and the brief gameplay shown in the above trailer has really piqued my interest.

Needless to say, we’re going to be following Rimelands: Hammer of Thor very closely.

uh, yeah, when it first came out like 2 years ago i got it...

why are we still talking about this, instead of an Edge 2 preview?

      1. Chris

Because it was kicked from the app store 3 times and a lot of people missed it.
this time I actually had iTunes credit.

  2. Deewin

I've already gifted 2 copies to my friends and it's a steal at this price :-D

  3. About Time

Huge win for mobigames right here.

  4. ultimo

    Just 99 cents!
    Go get it PpL :)

  5. Steve

You should by this game just to support Mobigames and the ridiculous idea that some owned the rights to a word: EDGE

  6. Brandon

WOW that game looks fantastic. Will definatley buy now and recommend to friend!

  7. Hitch

YES!!!!!! I went to buy this the day it got pulled off of iTunes, and now it's back and 4 buck cheaper! Picking it up for sure!
    Loved the lite.

    Fun game.

Note the controls: you swipe in a direction and then keep holding with your finger in the same place. (I thought it was meant to use continuous swiping, and it you try to do that, the steering is weird.)

    1. Chris

There are 3 control styles in the options/settings menu.

Brilliant been waiting for this for months. Instant purchase and celebration that mobigame have won the ridiculous legal challenge. Hats off to them and to the game. Now let's ask mobi to make some new levels as an add on or edge 2 ?

  12. BazookaTime

It would be nice to know what they did to get it back into the store. It sounds like this is a fix for good, which is great.

  13. salsaman

This is my favorite game in a long, long time... but I wish there were more levels!
    I'm currently ranked as #33 btw...:) http://www.mobigame.net/edg...

  14. Josh

YES!!! I personally got the game back when it was still on the app store, but I am really happy that it's back up so that other people can experience its amazing-ness.

  15. Matt

Thank God for that *redownloads quickly*!!

At least this ridiculous shenanigan has given a fantastic game some extra publicity! I hope that makes up for the time it was forced out of the app store. Can't wait for a sequel...

Holy crap I've been trying to buy this game for like a year now! Every time it would reappear it seems I would miss it. When it first came out I waited a while to buy it as I had bought a whole bunch of games around that time, so I figured I'd wait for it to go on sale. Then the whole debacle started with Tim Langdell, who, BTW, is a huge jackass. Screw you Langdell! Game over, you lose! Time to go find something else in life that you can FAIL at. You can't innovate because you have no talent, you hack! You could never make a game as great as this. Go cry.

Heh. "Thanks to us." Yeah, I suppose EA filing suit had no effect on the matter.

  18. stormchild

In any case, glad to hear this silly matter is over. And for 99¢, this is a no-brainer.

  19. TKO

Wohoo! It's a brilliant abstract platformer - and I lost the retro (SID/6581-inspired?) music. I've had it since it first came out. Now I can finally get my friends onto this awesome game too.

  20. krisko6

I bought it, hopefully it won't go away anytime soon.

  21. Mobigame

    Hi TA

thanks for your support! the "thanks to US" in the quote means us all. Journalists, fans, The Chaos Engine, IndieVision, EA, Apple, our sollicitor at Sheridans, and finally Chaos Edge which contains a lot of proofs that EA used in its filing: http://chaosedge.wordpress....

    Cheers
    Mobigame

Perfect game. Great soundtrack. I love it.

  23. Mr. Reeee

Fantastic game, though I pretty much stink at it!

Got it about a year ago when I got an iPod touch.
I'd LOVE to see an iPad update... Higher resolution and all!!!

  24. menom

    Thanks Mobigame,

You indeed helped bring an end to the nonsense of one man leeching from others' work simply because he used the word edge many years ago

    superb game

  25. Maxx

How come NOBODY is reporting on HOW mobigames secured their rights to sell this game again?

I want to know what was the agreement reached. If it involved Mobigames dishing out unfair licensing fees to the copyright troll, than the game's return to the app store is actually bad news for game developers.

Not a single gaming site even mentions how the agreement was reached. If you guys want to be taken serious as journalists, do some basic reporting and actually give us news.

"And hopefully Edge is here to stay for good" - well if we knew what the agreement reached was, maybe we'd have a better idea of it is going to stay.
