Apple Accepting iPad Apps, Upcoming iPad Game Forum

With the Apple iPad only two weeks away, Apple has invited developers to start submitting their iPad applications to the App Store. They are asking developers to submit their iPad apps by March 27th to be ready for the iPad launch.

As we discussed during our GDC Podcast, we were surprised at the scope of some of the projects that have been in the works for the iPad. In anticipation of the iPad launch, we’ve created an Upcoming iPad Games subforum for developers to post announcements and screenshots about their upcoming iPad games. Developers can also contact us privately at [email protected] if they prefer.

Some of the games already pre-announced for iPad include Flight Control HD, TanZen for iPad, Azkend HD and a bunch of IUGO titles.

    LOL dip switches. Good stuff.

For ultimate retro goodness, I want a whole menu using jumpers—complete with drag-and-drop, and tweezers to fish them out if you drop them!

Is this why we can't have ikarate on the c64 emulator?

One of my favorite arcade games back in the day. I had that game completely mastered. I wonder how well the controls will work, because the timing on the joysticks was critical to success.

I would play this game in the arcade when I was low on cash because you can beat the game by doing the following sequence, up up, up down, left left, right right.

Also one of my favorite arcade games - it's great to see that 2-player is supported. It looks like they've put a lot of TLC into this port...

I am super keen for this one. One of my fav's back in the day, can't wait to try it on my iphone / ipad.

I cannot express in words how excited I am about this one. Seriously, my dreams have been answered. This was the one game in the arcade that I could play long enough that it made (some) financial sense. Nice work!

So it's a deal, 5% of RagDoll Blaster2 revenues for one advance copy of Karate Champ :D hehe. So glad to hear you are a fan of the game like us, though I suspect I have spent more time playing PaperToss ;)

    FULL POINT!

This game was the best. You had the OP leg sweep that came out too fast and too long of a range, and then you had the spin kick that nailed the other dude in the balls.

SWEEET- I spent many a morning at 7-Eleven playing Karate Champ before school.

    Sweet! I'm ready to buy!

Now how about Rampage, Tron, Star Wars(original vector), and mk2?

There is no fear in this dojo!

Hmmm I don't see all the hype about retro gaming. Actually there were a lot of very good titles out there, indeed... But I don't need a pixelate 8-bit gfx to make it feel good...
Seems a lot of you are enjoying those retro eye-cancer graphics so it's ok, it's just that I don't really get it for myself. Oh and I am born in the late 70s, so I'm not a 12-years old gfx whore ;)

It's called nostalgia and not everyone has it.

Those joysticks and buttons look really good.

    @ Jack

Well, I have a 360, a PS3 and a gaming PC and I still occasionally enjoy playing Karate Champ on MAME. So, yeah, I love eyecandy as much as the next guy. But Karate Champ still does it for me after all these years... ;-) I'll definitely be picking this one up.

Down-UP, then Up-Up, then Right-Right. You could finish the game using just this combo, without being hit once. I wonder if this super combo exists in that version too :)
