Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for February 16th, 2022. As I mentioned yesterday, I had a hospital visit today. Things went as well as they could have, but it did eat up a good portion of my day. As such, today’s article is a little short. We’ve got summaries of the two new releases that hit the eShop today, and the lists of new sales and expiring discounts. Oh, and while it’s not Switch-related, it bears mentioning that Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShops will no longer allow new purchases as of March 2023. That’s quite a long ways off, but it’s worth thinking about your final purchases sooner rather than later. Anyway, on to the show.
New Releases
Beat Souls ($9.99)
This is a thirty-stage rhythm action game where you play as a Shrine Maiden named Mikoto who has to lay Rhythm Yokai to rest through the power of dance. Race down the fret board, dodge the Noise obstacles, collect souls, and try to rack up a big combo. Unlockable characters, multiple difficulty modes, and a special Infinite Hell Mode help to lend the game further replayability. If nothing else, it’s certainly colorful.
Tax Fugitive ($4.99)
There are more games about tax evasion on the Switch than you would expect. Which is to say, more than zero. This one is a fairly standard platformer where you play as what I think is a mouse who is on the lam after not paying their taxes. There are fifteen levels to play through here, and there seems to be at least a few different themes to them. A little light on content, but the five-dollar Switch platformer energy persists nonetheless.

A few things worth noting in here. If you want to buy in big on the decent port of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, the Deluxe Edition has a deep discount. Vaporum is good times for fans of dungeon crawls, and the Crysis Remastered Trilogy is a nice deal. The outbox is a lot bigger, and there are plenty of good games in there. Take a careful look through, even if most of them will be back on sale again before too long.
