Back in January this year, Capcom announced that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice ($0.99), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies ($0.99), and Ghost Trick (Free) have been pulled from the App Store for “various reasons". At the time, there was an issue unlocking the paid DLC in-game. The games were still functional but were pulled for new purchases. Today, all three games have returned with support for iOS 9 to iOS 14.4.2 (and iPadOS) as a nice surprise for when I checked my phone for updates. Ghost Trick and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice even mention display issues on certain devices being fixed while Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies just has the iOS 9.0 to 14.4.2 support mentioned.
If you’ve been playing Capcom games on iOS and iPadOS over the years, you are well aware of the company’s support or lack thereof for certain games. This recent delisting isn’t even the first time Capcom has pulled Ghost Trick. I tested all three games on my iPhone 11 and iPad Pro on iOS 14.5.1 and they worked fine. I also restored in app purchases after deleting and downloading Dual Destinies on both iPhone and iPad. Now that these three games are back and updated, I hope Capcom will consider bringing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite back for new purchases. It is very disappointing that the older Monster Hunter games aren’t available on modern platforms. It is going to be interesting to see if Capcom brings The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles to mobile eventually since the ports exist in Japan and a new localization is on the way for July on consoles and PC. Did you play Ghost Trick on iOS or Nintendo DS originally or if you haven’t, are you planning on buying it on mobile?
