Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls for mobile is somthing Konami revealed a while ago. Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls is a mobile-exclusive entry that lets you play as characters from across the series’ history. It was originally only announced for Japan but it finally soft launched in Canada on the App Store after Konami confirmed a global release at the time. An in-game notice has confirmed that the game is shutting down in September which will be less than a year after it soft launched in Canada. Watch the trailer for Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls below:
Shaun tried Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls at TGS and was quite pleased with the overall package. We’ve had impressions from the soft launch in our forum thread as well and people seemed to be happy with the game. I remember a lot of people were angry about this not being just a port or something. Konami eventually brought Castlevania: Symphony of the Night to iOS and Android so there’s that. The game is closing down on September 9th at 8:00 AM CEST. Purchase of gems in-game has been disabled as of now as well. If you have a Canadian App Store account and still want to check it out before it closes down, use this link. It is also available on Google Play here. I’m pretty disappointed that Konami didn’t even give this a shot worldwide despite it having a localisation and a soft launch in Canada. Did you end up playing it?

Honestly, couldn't expect anything less from Konami at this point.
From the look of the game, the confusing part is "closing down". This implies that what on the surface looks like a good Castlevania title for mobile is probably ladden with F2P elements, and failed for a reason.
If a Castlevania title can be "shut down" rather than "removed from the store", something is fundamentally going wrong.
It's an online co-op game with other players, like the earlier Harmony of Despair title.
No worries, just go for Bloodstained Ritual of the Night. It's just recently released on mobile though.
Canadian here, this game was utter garbage and I am not surprised it is being removed from the store. It was nothing more than a Gacha game with a Castlevania skin on top and had almost no real connection, game play wise, to the real games. The “game play” consisted of a generic battle arena, like almost every cheap 2D action game on IOS, the levelling up system changed from XP to opening loot boxes for cards and when you had enough cards to “merge” into a more powerful tier you could spend premium currency to do so. As for that Castlevania skin, aka it’s differentiating factor from the 1000s of other Gacha games on IOS, it was nothing more than some character portrait popping up and talking some story so boring that it ends up forcing you to jam on the “skip” button for 30 seconds so you could actually get to the game play.
So nobody has lost anything with this. Actually, since this is arguably the worst example of f2p garbage, the world is better off without this game existing.
Because it never launched in the US, I don't care about the game shutting down because they didn't care about it either so why should I?
