Welcome to the SwitchArcade Roundup for April 10th, where we’re covering the latest releases, sales, and news for Nintendo Switch games. Capcom’s got Mega Man X games on the way, we know when the Death Road will arrive, and different games about haunted high schoolers are here in the Roundup! There are no original ideas any more, folks. This is a pretty solid collection of interesting stuff for the Switch, so let me stop wasting words and get right into the good bits:
News
Capcom announces Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 for Switch
While Switch owners will get Mega Man Legacy Collection soon, the Mega Man X games will also soon arrive on the Switch (and other, lesser, systems) in July. The first collection will include the first four games, while the second will include games five through eight. Each version will release digitally for $19.99 each, though you can pick up a retail version on Switch that includes the first collection on cartridge, and a digital code for the second. That seems to defeat the purpose of a physical release, and I don’t know why they couldn’t just put both games on one cartridge, but hey, the PS4 and Xbox One versions will come with a disc for each game. That must be a lot easier, I guess?
I’m also disappointed the compilations don’t come with a bunch of the spinoff games. Like, how about the Mega Man Xtreme games from Game Boy Color, which let you play as Zero in levels from games where he otherwise was unavailable? And where is Mega Man X: Command Mission? If we’re making a compilation, let’s compile this stuff.
Death Road to Canada releases on April 25th
If you have failed to play Death Road to Canada, or need it on another platform, good news: Ukiyo Publishing will release the console ports of Rocketcat’s latest masterpiece on April 25th, with a 20% launch discount. You’ll experience the randomness of a world infested by zombies as you try to make your way to Canada, the last surviving nation on Earth. The emergent gameplay from Death Road to Canada is exceptional, so make sure you pick this up when it’s out. There will be co-op with the Joy-Cons, too!

Is Treasure teasing Ikaruga for the Switch?
Boy, would Treasure’s classic shoot ’em up be perfect on the Switch with vertical play! Yes, every game would be great on the Switch, but this would be especially perfect! Make it happen, everyone. Also, with that Kintaro game from Game Boy Advance showing up on the Switch, how about we see Switch versions of Gunstar Heroes Advance and Advance Guardian Heroes? The latter especially needs a remaster on a system with enough horsepower to not slow down. Also, that Astro Boy game for GBA by Treasure, that is a classic. How about a compilation called the Treasure Chest where it features a ton of classic Treasure games? That’s a freebie, publishers.

Slime-san will get a physical release

Hyper Sentinel releases on Switch on May 11th
Oh hey, this 1980’s shoot ’em up homage is finally seeing release! While a mobile version is still in the works (and it started out as a mobile game), the game first hits console and PC (including our beloved Switch) on May 11th. Check out a new trailer! Also, I gotta see if one of my old Testflight builds of this game still works, I’m glad to see this one finally release!
New Releases
Super Daryl Deluxe ($19.99)
What is an RPGvania? Apparently, this is it. Taking place in a multi-dimensional high school, there’s weird stuff afoot, and it’s up to Daryl to save everyone from the giant monsters that are appearing. It’s an RPG, but it has beat ’em up style combat, and a whole interconnected world of the school to explore. The game’s hand-drawn art style helps differentiate the game from other RPGs, and helps convey the ludicrous theme of this one. Looks interesting!
Masters of Anima ($17.99)
Masters of the 1996 Tool album? No, this action/strategy/adventure game has you commanding armies of Guardians into battle against a bunch of foes at once. I dig the colorful look (I’m so much happier that vibrant, colorful landscapes are in vogue instead of BROWN EVERYWHERE) and the mix of strategy and action-RPGs looks like it could make for an interesting experience. This one’s out now on all major platforms that aren’t mobile.
Sales
Aces of the Luftwaffe – Squadron ($9.99 from $14.99 until April 19th)
Okay, I’ll admit that I didn’t completely know what was going on with this series, and the opening paragraph of the description had me a bit worried that you got to play as German pilots invading the US. Instead, you’re defending against the Aces of the Luftwaffe, and their bullet hell ships. Do you need more shoot ’em ups in your life? Yes you do. Also, four-player co-op!
The Jackbox Party Pack ($16.24 from $24.99 until April 19th)
I’m pretty sure these keep going on sale in reverse order. This one has You Don’t Know Jack, the trivia game that put Jackbox on the map around the turn of the millennium, along with plenty of other wacky party games like Drawful and Fibbage XL, so you can test out your weird trivia knowledge, weird sketching skills, or weird bluffing skills. Make party night weird with this one.
Quest of Dungeons ($5.84 from $8.99 until April 19th)
That art style should be familiar, because it uses a free pixel art pack that plenty of other RPGs take advantage of. This was a pretty solid roguelike on mobile back in 2014, and you can check out the game with a ton of content in it for a nice sale price on the Switch, if that’s where you feel like playing this one.
Oxenfree ($4.99 from $19.99 until April 15th)
This is another massive discount for Night School’s paranormal adventure game. It’s gone on sale for $4.99 before (which is about what it costs on mobile), but if you want this on your Switch, how can you say no to a massive discount like this? I bought it, so I’m judging you slightly if you don’t get it yourself.
Layers of Fear: Legacy ($16.99 from $19.99 until April 22nd)
Let’s end this Roundup with some horror, shall we? This one released about a month and a half ago, and is now on a tasteful 15% discount. Enough to get you to reconsider the game after launch, but not enough to seem like a fire sale. Reviews on other platforms are really positive, and the Inheritance DLC is included with this horror game about surviving a strange Victorian mansion!
