‘The Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game’ Launching January 7th

TouchArcade Rating:

Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files books are great fun (and so was the show based on the books), so I’ve been looking forward to The Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game, which releases January 7th. As we wrote a year ago, the game was Kickstarted with great success (made ten times the initial goal) and has been very well received on other platforms. Now, we’ll get to play it on our devices. A few words about the book series, first. Dresden Files tells the story of a poor wizard, called Harry Dresden, who works as a kind of private investigator in a world of urban fantasy and gets into all kinds of troubles with magical creatures.

In the game, you work together with other players to solve cases from the novels in what-if scenarios. You play as Harry, Murphy, Susan, Michael, and the Alphas in the first five novels, or you can take on Side Jobs in a random scenario generator based on the short story collection of the same name. The game requires strategy, teamwork, of course, and some luck, and should be a blast for those who like the books and TV show. The game will come with three expansions available for purchase, and the base game will cost $6.99.

This is the best strategy game for iOS, ever, by far.

XCOM was great dont get me wrong... but its no Civ.

Oh, I wish I had a modern iPad now... mine is locked on iOS 5.1.1... lol!
      2018 is the year!!!

The "low end" 2017 iPad can run this, too. US$300

I think what's important isn't so much that civ 6 is on iPad, but more so how WELL it sells on iPad.

For some one who has never plAyed a civ game how easy is it to learn and enjoy ?

        1. DawnMoor

Very easy and the best way to judge is to download it and play for free for 60 turns it gives you a good insight how the gameplay is and theres ingame helper it asks you if you are new to civ or new to civ mobile and there is even tutorial menu with teaching the game.

Its 30€/$ on pc not 60 right now.

      1. Jared Nelson

Correct, the REGULAR price is 60 dollars.

        1. muttso1o

I never paid €60 for the PC, civ on pc. It is usally between 45 or 55 euro's on launch only the special/ limited version is above 60 euro.

    5. DawnMoor

Hope this sells well but the 60 is a bit steep for mobile gamers, the 30 tag is awesome so far ahould had kept it like this.

Anyway its a great game on pc and ios can’t recommend it enough its just great port and a very fun addictive game.

      1. DrlRage

He got downvoted because he thought $60 for a downrezzed port is steep? Really?

        1. zergslayer69

You can actually tweak it so that it runs in native res, quite easy actually

      Is MP inter platform? Hotseat?

“The other big concession is that… well, that's kind of it.“

There is no online multiplayer. This is a bigger concession than the graphics. It takes one minute to make the game native resolution (using, for example, iExplorer) and even less to modify the UI scale in-game (with debug and a Bluetooth keyboard), to better accommodate the 10.5 and 12.9 screens.

Care to elaborate, that sounds fun?

    8. merefield

Very impressive. On my10.5 only really gets slow very late game. Don't hesitate.

How different are the visuals between an iPad Air 2 and a 2017 iPad Pro?
