We first heard about West of Loathing, a Western-themed spinoff of the massively popular MMO Kingdom of Loathing, back in May of last year, with word that it should be heading to mobile devices in addition to PC whenever it ended up being finished. Well, that time ended up being last month when West of Loathing officially launched on desktop with the mobile version being about “2 to 3 months" away. This weekend at PAX West developer Asymmetric has an early build of West of Loathing running on an iPad and they let us take it for a quick spin, check it out.
I’ve purposely made myself avoid playing the desktop version of West of Loathing so that I could play it on mobile instead, but man this brief experience with the game has made that very hard to stick to. It’s just such a funny and silly game, and I can’t wait to play through it on an iPad and/or (hopefully) an iPhone. The game itself was running quite well but there’s some more UI tweaks the team wants to do to make it more mobile-friendly, but it’s coming along and we should hopefully be playing West of Loathing on our iOS devices sometime before the end of the year.
