Flashbulb Games is bringing Kalimba, their puzzle-platformer, to iOS, and they need the community’s help to beta test the iOS version of the game. This game has you playing as two colored totem pole pieces – at the same time – trying to solve tricky puzzling, platforming challenges. The desktop and console version of the game involved co-operative play as a feature, and Flashbulb wants to keep that alive on the iOS version. The iPad version in particular will support two players on one iPad, facing each other. Check out the iOS trailer for the game:
And here’s the iPad multiplayer in action, where two players control two totems each, for a total of four to try and keep alive:
I’m really intrigued to see how this turns out on iOS, and I love the look of the game. The use of triangles and hexagons seems particularly distinctive without being overbearing as part of the visual style. If you want to help beta test this, check out the forum thread.

For anybody who really likes platformers, it easily surpasses the 4-4.5 star mark. It has clever level design, looks old in a great way, feels very fresh, and is fun to play with very quick resets upon meeting your demise. A death does not automatically mean you keep your keys (needed to progress to the next level) as there's an option to lose them all upon perishing if you so choose. It isn't metroidvania style but definitely has the feeling of being one, sometimes a miss timed jump can return you to an earlier section and you have to make your way back, but on doing so you'll spy a key you didn't know how to get before.
I found the enemies to vary greatly and not just different skins either that do the same thing. Many 'enemies' will bring back solid memories for gamers who've been playing long before iOS, and each one is a treat to discover.
It's only a buck and you get a lot of quality gaming for your money. If it mildly interests you, do yourselves a favour and pick it up.
3,5 stars!? Wtf? 😫
This is the best platformer on mobile. The rating is harsh.
I don't agree with the score of this review. Period.
The rating is indeed much to low!
This was £0.99 well spent for me.
3.5 Stars Carter strikes again! In your face! Jokes aside, I tried the free version. The pace too slow for me and the art style just doesn't gel with me. I find it it like a childrens drawing, similar like the Mikey games (sorry, I know those are considered sacred by the TA crowd). A child drawing is beautiful, because it's a child but when adult designers choose this style I don't get it. I love ymbab, Downwell for retro examples and Lost socks for a modern cartoony version.
Hey, this wasn't my handiwork, for a change! Don't you put that evil on me, MarsMachine!
You ain't foolin' no one Chris Carter Dotson!
Ha ha, don't worry, I like your reviews Chris. I don't take things that serious. That's why I love the TA reviews, comments & forums. This is what I think, what do you think? Let's talk about it. Not this review is wrong, I don't agree! How can a personal review be wrong? Keep on doin whatcha doin', a'ight?
Chris? Carter, whoops 😬
💩shucks, man I wish I could edit comments on this soon to be extinct iphone app! Chris Carter Dotson, man, just get a one name name, something catchy like Voldemort 😂
