Minimalist Strategy Game ‘Militia’ With Dark World Expansion Hits Mobile

TouchArcade Rating:

BrainGoodGames has just brought its single player competitive strategy game Militia ($3.99) to iOS, with both light world and dark world modes. The idea is the game should have depth but low complexity. You command several different units of different types on a battlefield, and your objective is to to use these units and their various quirks to defeat enemies, sometimes doing so in small numbers of turns. The simple pieces make Militia feel like a board game, but with a lot going on with the enemies you face.

The game has gotten high praise from Keith Burgun of Auro ($1.99) fame, and one element that Auro players might appreciate is that there’s a singleplayer ladder, so the more you play and the better you get, the more advanced the game gets. Militia is pretty interesting, and a rather natural fit for mobile after its Steam release. The game, with both light and dark world modes (the latter added to the original Steam release as an expansion), is available on the App Store and Google Play now.
