If I had to compile a list of really awesome things for developers to do, the #1 thing on that list would be a tie between Train Jam and Stugan. Unfortunately, you already missed Train Jam this year, but the good news is you’ve got about a week left to apply for Stugan. If this is the first time you’ve heard of Stugan, here’s the gist: It’s a non-profit accelerator where a select group of developers head to a remote cabin in the Swedish countryside with some of the best minds in the mobile industry as mentors for two months. Better yet, the only thing you need to pay for is your travel to Stockholm, Sweden. Everything else is covered. Oh wait, even better yet is that unlike a lot of accelerator programs, you retain full ownership of everything you make at Stugan. Their motivation seems to be exclusively to encourage the creation of awesome games.
I seriously have nothing but great things to say about Stugan, the folks who run the event are some of my favorite people to hang out with at events, so, that team but two months in some exotic location really excites me. If you’re curious of what kind of stuff comes out of Stugan, here’s the details from last year’s event. Applying is real simple, mash this link, and come up with a quick pitch of what you’re looking to do there. The only thing that might even take more than a few moments of your time is recording a quick video.
If you’re an indie developer, please, please, please sign up. It’s not hyperbole at all to say that Stugan will be a life changing experience.
