I like the idea of VR quite a bit, but I never saw the point of building games rather than experiences around the platform. So, when Sansar was announced, I was quite excited, and judging from the new trailer, I was probably right to be. If you haven’t read our earlier story on the platform, Sansar is a social VR platform from Linden Lab, the creators of Second Life, that aims to gives us a huge virtual world ready to let players create all kinds of experiences. As you can see from the trailer below, Sansar might finally give us those VR worlds we’ve watched in movies and read about in books, and the developer’s experience making Second Life might help them actually pull it off.
You’ll be able to make your own objects and worlds in VR and, of course, monetize them. Second Life had online university classes and all kinds of other things going on (and yes, other things too), so imagine what can be done in VR. Sansar will be primarily for the PC, but it will be accessible via mobile devices upon consumer launch. What do you think? Would you be interested in such a VR experience?
