Today is Black Friday, which is significant for two reasons. Firstly, it’s a fantastic opportunity to watch people on the news literally fighting over relatively trivial discounts for electronics, which is as good a reason as any to keep the physical retail stores in an age where everything is ordered online. However, far more significantly for mobile gamers is the abundance of App Store sales that take place on Black Friday, as it seems that a vast majority of titles will undergo some sort of price reduction that will only last for one day. However, the sheer amount of games on sale can be difficult to manage, so to make sure that no one misses out on any killer deals, here is a round up of titles that have had their prices reduced in the past few days – while I have attempted to make this list as comprehensive as possible, there’s a very likely chance that there may be some discounts missing, so make sure to post either in the comments or in our Price Drops forum so we can share the sales before the games return to their regular cost in the coming few days.
The games on sale are as follows, in alphabetical order:
- Alto’s Adventure ($4.99)
- Blitz Breaker ($2.99)
- Deus Ex GO ($4.99)
- Don’t Starve: Pocket Edition ($4.99)

- Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions ($13.99)
- Final Fantasy V ($14.99)

- Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved ($9.99)
- Groundskeeper 2 ($1.99)
- Gunslugs 2 ($2.99)
- Heads Up! ($1.99)
- Heroes of Loot 2 ($3.99)
- Infinity Blade ($5.99)
- Infinity Blade II ($6.99)
- Infinity Blade III ($6.99)
- Invisible, Inc. ($4.99)
- Kingdom Rush Origins HD ($2.99)

With such a wide variety of games reduced, there is something for everyone amidst the sea of sales for Black Friday on the App Store. The particular highlight so far appears to be Invisible, Inc., as the game hasn’t been on sale before and is an essential purchase for anyone with an iPad who has a penchant for exhilarating stealthy turn-based action. Ultimately, regardless of whether you take advantage of these sales I’d stress a degree of restraint, as the very nature of the App Store suggests that many of these titles will be on sale sometime in the future. If your backlog is already incomprehensible, there’s no harm in sitting back and watching the mayhem unravel. Those looking for some new additions to their iPhones, however, should keep an eye on this post, as well as our Price Drops forum and the respective Appshopper page for any further additions to this impressive Black Friday roster of discounts.
Update: As the day of sales comes to an end, a few extra additions have shown up on the App Store. Most notably, Alto’s Adventure, Blitz Breaker, and Final Fantasy V are thrown into the mix, and all three mount a serious claim to your time and hard earned cash – just remember not to put yourself into crippling debt over iOS games.
