As a student in what must be the most expensive city in the galaxy, Crap! I’m Broke: Out of Pocket ($1.99) resonates with me on a deeply personal level, as it seems I’m yelling the very same expletive-laden sentence on a regular basis. Despite my precarious financial situation, Crap! I’m Broke isn’t purely for those low on cash. With an eccentric graphical design and a neat mini-game focused concept, all infused with the predictably witty humor that such a title suggests, Arcane Circus’ iOS debut looks worth the (thankfully) cheap $1.99 price of entry, and has today launched on the App Store.
We first took a look at Crap! I’m Broke: Out of Pocket back at GDC in March, and as well as being impressed by the developer’s succinct pitch for the game (which is rather fitting based on the short and sharp challenges within it), we thought the idea of turning mundane tasks into smaller, playable experiences was a great idea, and fitted in perfectly with the player’s struggle for subsistence. With 6 mini-game tasks – and one secret one that can be unlocked – the ability to buy perks and unlock new jobs, and even meta micro-games, Crap! I’m Broke certainly provides a whole host of ways for you to procrastinate off work by playing far more enjoyable simulations of the very chores you’re avoiding. With a free browser version also available, remember to head by our forum thread to let us know your thoughts on the game, whether you’re broke or not.
