‘Mikey Jumps’ is a Mashup of the ‘Mikey Shorts’ Trilogy Arriving Next Month

TouchArcade Rating:

For the first time in more than two years, our old pal Mikey is heading back to the App Store. Mikey Jumps is a brand new entry from developer BeaverTap Games but it pulls elements from all three previous games in the Mikey Trilogy. With “simple one-touch controls" you’ll run and jump in classic Mikey Shorts ($1.99) fashion, hook and swing in Mikey Hooks ($1.99) fashion, and rocketboot yourself around in Mikey Boots ($1.99) fashion, all in the same game! Though we haven’t seen any in-game screens or footage, it sounds like Mikey Jumps will be of the auto-runner variety based on its description. You can, however, feast your eyes on this very colorful promotional image below. Oooohhhh, shiny!

For those not up to speed on Mikey lore, BeaverTap Games is made up of Mike Meade and Mike Gaughen, who met right here on our very own forums. With both having a bit of game development experience, they took a stab at making their own speedrunning platformer, which turned into the fantastic Mikey Shorts. With a Halloween spinoff and two sequels under their belt, they took some time away from Mikey to build twitchy arcade games like Radical (Free), Move the Walls (Free), and Goat Rider (Free). Mikey Jumps is their triumphant return to Mikey since 2014’s Mikey Boots, and I’m very excited for it. I've heard stratospherically good things about WazHack, but... THOSE GRAPHICS!!

    2. RossmanBrosGames

This sounds like it could be super fun. And with the free entry with a still premium style pricing no reason not to check it out. Hadn't ever heard of this, thanks Shaun!

The graphics are just enough. Better then ASCI, but not to flashy. It takes on a cartoonish feel, which is good considering the obnoxiousness of some of the embarrassing ways you can die. I've burnt dozens of hours into this, and may need to go at it again.

This is so much fun, this is one of the most in depth rogue-like dungeon crawlers. I play this almost daily. I can't say enough about it but all I can say is there just are not words for the feeling you get when your wizard makes it down to the 800 floor where you use a scroll of compulsion to acquire a pet Orc. This game has the best variety of loot hands down and hatching a pet spider or kobold from an egg? Priceless.

One of my all time favorites. I adore roguelikes and get every one I become aware of. WazHack is one of the finest I've encountered. It is pure, constant fun.

Excellent rouge-like. Recommend everyone try it.
      Very challenging.

One of my favourites that has not left any of my devices. If you are into this type of game then buy without hesitation (still not completed after many hours playing it)
