‘Rush Rally 2’ Updated With Cockpit Camera, Upgraded Cloud Features and More

TouchArcade Rating:

The iPhone has always been a perfect platform for racing titles, and while this year’s Rush Rally 2 ($0.99) received much deserved praise in our review, the behind-the-car camera was maligned by a few for not recreating the immersion of a true first-person perspective of traditional rally games, or other driving simulators such as Real Racing 3 (Free). Thankfully, within barely a few months of release, developer Brownmonster has updated Rush Rally 2 with a fully fledged cockpit view, which will certainly satiate any purists, or those who may want another dimension when driving around the numerous beautiful terrains that the game offers.

Furthermore, side and rear-view mirrors within the vehicle also accurately improve your driver’s perspective, and let you see the opposition trailing in your dust. Even windscreen wipers make an appearance, which is undoubtedly the zenith for racing games on the App Store. These relatively small inclusions are a representation of the meticulous eye for detail that Brownmaster has in his grand vision for Rush Rally 2, and are a big reason as to why the overall package is so enjoyable for hardcore rally driving fans and casual gamers alike, and consequently why the title received such critical acclaim.

Other minor additions, which include player data migration to Brownmonster’s own server and replay mode fixes, are also welcome, but this 1.05 update only marks the beginning of the developer’s ambitions for Rush Rally 2. As well as a promise for some oft-requested features such as auto-acceleration, a video appeared on our forum thread showcasing a 100 car test, which hints at the future scale of the racing that Brownmaster perceives to be possible within future updates in the game. That being said, Rush Rally 2 is a brilliant game as it is, and the update released today only cements its place as an essential purchase on the App Store for any racing fans. Be sure to leave your impressions on this new cockpit view – and any questions or requests for the developer – on our forum thread.

Sounds good but I am a little disappointed in the failure rates. At lvl 22 I must used a razz berry on well over half my catches. Anything over 100cp is basically uncatchable without help.

I've switched to all curveballs all the time, and the capture rate went way up for me. It's worth letting some low-level Pokémons run off in order to practice throwing curves.

So...like... a wiki? But probably less effective (poke-jokes)? Hey, Niantic I got an idea, why don't you finally allow us to take out our pokemon for selfies and stuff, like peeps have already asked for. I mean I don't run a stupid huge IP like this but prolly something that lets people personalize their love for this game might be great! Sure people will dolphinately also use it in arguably "bad ways" like sticking pikachu next to that Syrian kid (this is already doable anyways). But, hey, that actually sounds like art. AND a stupid easy thing to do.

...Maybe go with Charbone though, you know, he's the sensitive one...

At what point do we get the exact location and lines leading us to Pokemon with distances counting down as we get closer, just like the game trailer?!? Videos never lie.

Where would the fun be in that? "Walk 17 steps forward to claim your rightful prize."

Until they bring back the feature to request pokestops and gyms this game will continue to be useless to me. I live in a suburb and there is nothing near me... Well, there is a pokestop 5.6km away, but that doesn't take the river that blocks my way into account. If I actually wanted to visit that pokestop I have to drive 50+km north, pay for a ferry, then drive another 50+km to the stop, then repeat the entire route to get back home..... Screw Pokemon GO.

If only you had played Ingress a few years ago and submitted a bunch of local landmarks as Portals, so they could eventually turn into PokéStops. I can see three gyms and two dozen PokéStops on the scanner from my house.

so its like an official IV checker?

    7. dalianor

It only offers a commentary on your Pokémon' best stat and current overall rating. It adds absolutely no play value to the game imho!

    8. Pocket Master

I'm a solid Pokemon fan. And I still think this game blows. Pokemon Snap would have been better as a remake from the N64. Might as well collect cards...

Checked out the new "Assessment" feature, but it's totally underwhelming. I'm sticking to AutoIVCalc - the OCR works for English now too. Gives you the individual IV values as well as an overall percentage and does it automatically from a screenshot. Niantic are not giving us much, to be honest. This has been out for nearly two months and they're still just milking their cash cow...
