Whenever we’ve posted about Clash Royale, our twitter mentions blow up with people asking when the game is coming to Android. Well, today we’ve sort of got our answer as the game has soft launched on Google Play in Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and New Zealand. This also likely indicates that the game will launch worldwide on Android at the same time as iOS in March. Keep in mind, Supercell hasn’t said that specifically, but that’s typically how these sorts of things work.
Also, Supercell mentions on their forums that players might be seeing weirdness when it comes to gem pricing during the soft launch period. Per Supercell:
Android Gem prices in places outside of the soft launch countries will be a bit irregular during the soft launch period. This is because we haven’t officially launched in these countries yet and the prices are auto-converted based on the currencies of the soft launch countries. This is only temporary, however, and the prices will be defined correctly once Clash Royale goes global in March!
Clash Royale is a pretty fun game, and I’m really curious to see how it does when it’s released. Supercell’s games have been smash hits, so there’s some lofty expectations here. If you listen to our podcast, you’ve heard us talk about it a ton, and it will be fun to see what type of players the game ends up attracting. Clash Royale seems like a great gateway game to players who have never played a card game before.
Anyway, March isn’t that far away, so we won’t have to wait too long to find out. If you’ve got an Android device, and are up for fiddling with the soft launch, this link will take you to Google Play.
