The RPG Reload Podcast – 007 – ‘Final Fantasy 5’

TouchArcade Rating:

Hello, everyone! We’re right in the middle of the dog days of summer, and what better way to beat the heat than laying in front of a fan or air conditioner and listening to an ultra-long episode of the RPG Reload Podcast? This month, Eric Ford and I are joined by a special guest. His name is Eric “RK" Koziol, and in addition to being an iOS developer, he’s also the man behind the Final Fantasy 5 Four Job Fiesta. It’s an annual charity event that takes place each summer where hundreds of players run through Final Fantasy 5 under special challenge rules in order to raise money for Child’s Play. Not only does he provide us with some insight behind the event, but he also drops some serious Final Fantasy 5 knowledge on us all. Also, he has a bell! It all runs a bit long, but it’s a fun one, I promise.

In addition to the lovely theme song prepared for us by Sweet Diss, there are two pieces of music in this episode. The piece during the break is “Battle At The Big Bridge" from the Final Fantasy 5 Original Soundtrack, while the piece at the end is “Battle At The Big Bridge (Oriental Mix)" from the Final Fantasy 13-2 Original Soundtrack. Both songs are the work of Nobuo Uematsu, and should be available in your local iTunes store. On behalf of Eric, RK, and myself, I hope you enjoy this month’s episode. Also, if you’d like us to answer your question on the podcast, send us an email including your questions to [email protected]. Thanks again for listening!

I already own all three. Are they going to make another one? Maybe a more Diablo-style game? That would be awesome.

      1. Niclas Johansson

Yup - Infinity Blade Dungeons, came out a couple of years ago. Awesome game! (I wish :( )

        1. TulaszMx

actually infinity blade developers cancelled the release of Infinity Blade Dungeons like a year ago, that was a really bad new for us.

          1. Niclas Johansson

            Hence "I wish".

    2. nxtboyIII

      That's a steal.

    3. Tim Cant

I like my Infinity Blade slathered in Chipotle Southwest Sauce, mmmmmm

    4. jhurshman

Because each individual game is $3, and the bundle is $5, if you already own two out of the three, you can get the third one free through "Complete My Bundle".

      1. Jack111

If you have 1 out of 3 the bundle cost just €1,-

        1. B30

If you already own all three, you don't even need the bundle! 😜😄

      2. thebeat07

LOL THANKS MAN. That is insane cause i downloaded Infinity blade 1 and 2 when they were FREE. And now i just got 3 for free from the complete my bundle! Man i didn't even have to pay a cent!!

        1. logan067

How did you get it for free? I got the first 2 for free as well, but there is no complete my bundle option on the page :/ it just let's me buy the 3rd one for $2.99. Not that I'm complaining about not getting the whole trilogy for free, lol. Just trying to see if it's possible.

          1. KoolCat

Same here. It shows I have the first two purchased, but no Complete My Bundle option.

            1. Shkrbby

Same here. No complete my bundle option.

        2. Intendro

I thought it took the price you had actually paid for the separate apps and subtracted that from the Complete My Bundle price...
          *googles*
          Apparently it is.
"When you buy apps from a bundle, the amount you paid for each individual app will be deducted from the total bundle price. If you download an app from a bundle for free, you won't get any credit to put toward completing the bundle."
Well, anyway, I just got the third game for $Get.
          That's nice.

          1. thebeat07

What u mean? Cause i got it all for free

            1. Intendro

Then something went wrong in their system. I googled it and support.apple.com says that getting a free app in a bundle would deduct $0 from the Complete My Bundle...
It says it needs iOS 7.1 or later to use Complete My Bundle. I wonder if that's where something went wrong. Wasn't the first game out before iOS 7? Maybe they didn't remember prices from back then?
Maybe you forgot and didn't really get them free?
              Who knows.
              Well, whatever.
I find it amusing that I bought a bundle before it was a bundle and it turned into the bundle. Insert time travel joke here. 😛

        3. Anonomation

          Lucky

    5. Samurix16

I played all 3 and finished them

    6. jgeirge

The AppStore is werid... I got 1 for free, paid a dollar for the second & just for the 3rd free...

    7. LethalX08

Tried playing IB1 the other day. It runs but there was no sound :/. Not sure if it's an iOS8 issue or compatibility with the iPod 6G.

      1. Intendro

My first play on iOS8 had no voices... But I closed and opened the app again and then it worked.
Try again, see if it works.

    8. AppWhore

Can I just go straight to 3 if I'm not interested in the story? Got all 3 for 79p cause of the bundle deal

      1. dancj

        Yes you can.

        1. AppWhore

Having watched the trailer...I might play all 3 😀 looks pretty good

    9. curtisrshideler

Definitely agree! This is a stellar series. And $5 is a steal. I've played them all, read the books, and even have the soundtracks. I have to search again online to see if the short film ever got green lit.

    10. curtisrshideler

Watching that trailer again makes me really want the story to continue. Or to play a prequel or something. Guess I'll fire up III again while I wait.

    11. tex42

      Slice Slice Slice!

    12. darkfyra

How bad is the iaps in those games, got curious after finding out an author I started reading recently and really enjoyed with only the first of the Mistborn books was involved but don’t want to endure pay2win.
