Minecraft Pocket Edition ($6.99) has been utterly huge for Mojang, as it has sold over 30 million copies so far, and is one of the few games to have a consistent presence on that otherwise free-to-play-dominated chart. Well, in order to celebrate the game’s huge success, three of the members of Mojang’s mobile team held a Q&A livestream that wound up going for 84 minutes. They talk a lot about the upcoming 0.11 update which they are working on. You can catch the whole thing here:
So, what’s in the works for 0.11? Controller support is being considered for future inclusion, maybe in the fall in at least version 0.12. Boats are getting a redesign that’s currently exclusive to PE. Skin options will be in 0.11, including custom skins and different skin packs. Realms, the Mojang-run online servers, will be implemented into the game, hopefully by the end of 2015. Redstone, the material that transmits power, will be implemented sometime before the game goes into beta, and may cause lag issues on older devices. There’s a good rundown available here of all the things the team talked about during the livestream, in case you don’t quite have 84 minutes free to listen to a chat about the little things that make Minecraft so big.
