As one of my favorite bands Iron Chic points out in the song “Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow?", we’re all on a giant blue rock that’s spinning through space, falling in circles forever into the sun. It’s a pretty morbid way to view human existence, and kind of depressing, but the one lyric that makes me feel better is “This once we all fall together." Hey, we’re hurtling towards a giant fireball in space, but at least we’re in it together, right? That’s similar to the premise behind Sunburn! ($2.99), the debut title from developer Secret Crush that just hit the App Store this morning.
You’re the captain of a spaceship, but unfortunately a comet destroys your ship and strands you and your crew in space. The realization hits you: There’s no way out of this one, this is how you’re going to die. As horrible a fate as that is, you decide that the only thing more horrible would be if any of your crew would have to face death alone in the vastness of space. So your job is to round up all of your crew, using tried and true gravity-based physics puzzling, so that once everyone is reunited you can all burn up into the sun in the company of friends. Such a dark, twisted idea… wrapped up in such an adorable package! Check out the trailer.
Sunburn! has been very high on my list of most anticipated new games since we first covered it back in August. I was a bit worried when it didn’t launch alongside all the week’s new releases last night, but was overjoyed to wake up today to see people talking about it in our forums. I’m pretty sure this is how I’ll be spending all my free time today, so if you like physics puzzlers or simply just like the thought of flinging a chain of astronauts into the sun, then you’ll definitely want to look into Sunburn!

I loved Bean's Quest, but I'm worried about getting too hyped, because every time I get excited about a new iOS game, the app ends up not being compatible with my 4th gen ipod with iOS 6 (Monument Valley, Crossy Road, Kingdom Rush Origins, Zombie Highway 2 and Golfinity all require at least iOS 7.0, for example)
That's to asure the best quality for the game
According to their press page:
Insane backwards compatibility runs at 60fps on iPad 1 and iPhone 3GS.
That's quite right! The game even runs on iOS 5 and we've tested with an iPad 1, iPod 3rd generation and iPod 4th generation :-)
Sweet! I'll definitely be buying it then.
Great, You are lucky with this one
And, even with the new release imminent, they still managed to update the original to support my enormous iphone 6+. For that shocking display of decency alone, I will buy the sequel sight unseen.
Haha, we updated all our games in fact! I'm glad people appreciated our efforts. Thanks!
So the latest update does support the 6+? I have the larger phone but there are still bars on the sides of the screen. I'm assuming this is intentional? Good game though..
Hrmm, this should only happen on vertical stages I believe. Horizontal and multi-axis stages should fill out show more space wherever possible. Also the HUD should fit correctly as well!
Actually I just realized that this is only one level where the bars are on screen.. 1-2 looks to be the only one. How I happened upon it tonight of all nights Is beyond me
Ah yeah, see my other comment. 1-2 is a vertical stage if I remember correctly... :)
Thanks for clearing that up (:
Mid-air dash, eh? Looking forward to it!
I hope it has jumps.
Will flick be available as a control option?
I never instabuy. But for this I will make an exception. Also, I didn't realise Kumobius are in Melbourne... awesome! :)
