Microsoft’s Kinect accessory brought about all sorts of gimmicky motion games, with the only ones that were really worth playing being Let’s Dance and Dance Central. They worked well because they abstracted the weird real-time movement used in other games to just having you vaguely flailing your appendages in time with the dancing model on screen. It was a major innovation compared to what most (all?) other Kinect games were doing, and playing it was actually a lot of fun regardless of how bad you were.
Sega’s recently released Go Dance (Free) hopes to capture some of that magic. Instead of relying on a Kinect, it uses some high-level image analysis techniques to parse the video feed from your front-facing camera on your device to track your movement to score you on your dancing. In my experience, it works surprisingly well, although at this time it’s only tracking the top half of your body unlike Let’s Dance’s full-body scanning.
But, hey, we’re talking a two dollar app you can set up at a bar and just go crazy, which seems worth cutting some slack for. At launch, it comes with two songs to dance to: LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem and Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass. Flo Rida’s Wild Ones and Avicii’s Levels are available as IAP.

How smooth is the gameplay on iPad 2?
Pretty good.
Good, occasionally slows down, but not enough times to be annoying.
Game crashes constantly on iPad mini.
Jousting is too robust for such a little iPad.
Runs smoothly on my iPad mini.
Yes, the game gets repetitive, but it is still a lot of fun. The tutorial is really lacking. I wish they had better explanations for the smaller details of the game.
I'm not sure how I've overlooked this game for so long.
Believe it or not, I knocked the opponent off his horse in my first match, but I've been unable to do it since. I believe you just empty their strength meter.
I was hoping to find a better explanation of the various stats, but they're nowhere to be found. Like, there are two horses with identical speed and bravery, yet one is more expensive than the other. Why? And what the hell does bravery do anyway?
Does the control stat on the saddle affect your lance or something else?
The game is fun, but the various stats aren't explained at all. Power and speed are fairly obvious, but that's really it. And yes, that tutorial was balls. It's not hard to figure out the gameplay, but come on. It's pretty obvious someone just quickly slapped it together on Friday so they could hit the bar.
