Drug-Fueled, ‘Max Payne’-Inspired Third-Person Shooter ‘El Paso, Elsewhere’ Coming to Mobile Next Month

Developer Strange Scaffold in partnership with Frosty Pop Games is readying a mobile release of the critically-acclaimed El Paso, Elsewhere, a retro-inspired third-person shooter that launched on PC and Xbox last fall. With inspirations such as Max Payne, Quake, and Hotline Miami, El Paso, Elsewhere has you playing as James Savage (solid name) as he fights his way through a supernatural motel floor by floor in search of his ex-lover who is now a homicidal vampire who aspires to destroy the world. Yeah, that’s some premise, right? Catch a glimpse of all the early 2000s “bullet time" and blocky polygonal goodness in the following accolades trailer for El Paso, Elsewhere, which I should add contains plenty of NSFW language.

This game is a VIBE. The mobile version of El Paso, Elsewhere will launch as a free-to-try model with the ability to play a portion of the game for free and then unlock the full game through a one-time IAP. If you’re the pre-ordering type, then you can do just that over on the App Store here, and the expected release date is September 17th. I remember all the buzz around this one from last year but have yet to play it myself, so I’ll be first in line to give the iOS version a shot when it launches next month.
