Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. We’ve got a couple of big updates floating the batch this week, but there are plenty of other interesting ones to check out along the way. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
FINAL FANTASY, $8.99 All six of the Pixel Remaster games on mobile got updates in the last week, and while there are some per-game tweaks for most of them, the broad strokes are similar. Specifically, the booster cheat features have been added to the games and they all support external controllers now. They’re still missing a couple of features from the versions on other platforms, but these were two of the bigger requests so I’m going to go ahead and give them the coveted UMMSotW award for this week in honor of the update.
Genshin Impact, Free The latest update for Genshin Impact rolled in last week, and it has a lot of goodies to enjoy as it celebrates the coming of spring. I mean, I hope spring is coming soon. It’s a bit snowy outside right now. Anyway, there’s a new area called Chenyu Vale, new characters called Xianyun and Gaming, some new events and story quests to play, a new weapon called Crane’s Echoing Call (fancy name, that), a new monster to fight, a few new outfits, and some kind of new system called Rainjade Olbation. Wasn’t that a Star Wars character? In the Mos Eisley Cantina, I’m fairly sure. I’d check, but I’m lazy that way.
Wylde Flowers, Wylde Flowers continues to steadily grow at its own pace, and there are a couple of new things to check out in this latest version of the Apple Arcade slow life game. Eury’s Salon is now open for business, giving Fairhaven residents an option for all their hairdressing needs. It’s run by the latest Fairhaven citizen, Eury Sinclair, who hails from New Orleans and presents a new romance option for players. Tara’s hairstyle can now be customized with sixty new options, giving you another option to express your individual style. Finally, there are some new friendship milestones. Shore up those relationships with Gloria and Bruno!
Tiny Tower: Tap Idle Evolution, Free Plenty of holidays in the air right now, so which ones will each game choose to feature? Tiny Tower has selected the Lunar New Year this time around, with the Dragon Event kicking off in a few days. They’re also doing a Valentine’s Day offer if you want to spend some money. Rounding things out, there are some new menu options for free stuff, and a whole mess of bug fixes. Neat!
Toon Blast, Free A rare case of a Toon Blast update properly lining up with a holiday instead of just going off and doing its own thing. Our obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update this week is this new Love is in the Air episode, which does the usual thing by adding fifty new levels to the game for you to play. Toon love, eh? Well, it worked out well for Roger Rabbit.
Zookeeper World, Zookeeper World, meanwhile, just keeps on marching to the beat of its own drum. The new Fruit League event sees you collecting fruits while playing the puzzles in order to get some rewards. There are also twelve new puzzle stages to play independently of that, with those being made available from February 11th. Yes, that’s next week. But the update was this week, so it’s being included here. Come on, Kiteretsu. Give us those puzzles early! There aren’t enough puzzle stages to play in mobile games right now.
Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom, I really need to properly check this game out, as it looks like it would be up my alley. Well, the usual “too many games, too little time" thing strikes again. Anyway, in this new version of the game there’s a new vendor, offering up some balloon-themed decorations and accessories. You can also pick up a new backpack expansion at the Patchi Lake shop, and can access your stored items while crafting at workbenches. Some bugs have been fixed, and both the days and nights will now last longer. Some additional controller options have also been implemented.
Solitaire Stories, It’s the second update of the year for Solitaire Stories, proving these developers are very busy beavers indeed. First up, if you have an Apple Vision Pro, congrats on having that much money to blow. You can now enjoy Solitaire Stories with your new purchase, allowing you to virtually play solitaire. There’s a new story to play called World’s Deep, plus two new events based around the Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day. Why choose when you don’t have to? There’s also a new offline event feature for those times where you just can’t get an internet connection going. A rather robust update, all told.
Jetpack Joyride 2, And over to Jetpack Joyride 2, which is doing a Lunar New Year event that sees you protecting the Moon itself from the villainous fiends that threaten it. There are also some new challenges available in the Challenge Mode, so get cracking on those if you want to prove your jetpack mettle. Throw in some bug fixes, performance improvements, and balance tweaks and that will about wrap it up for this one.
CSR 2 - Realistic Drag Racing, Free We’ll wrap things up this week with a look at CSR Racing 2‘s latest version, which as you might expect adds more cars. Which cars? Deep breath… the Audi RS 3 performance edition, the Rimac Nevera Time Attack, the Aston Martin DB12, the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, the Aston Martin Valour, and the Aston Martin Vantage GTE. Apparently some improvements have been made to gameplay, and some stickers have been added as IAP. Sure, that’s fine. Well, I’m off to play in the snow!
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
