So far, I haven’t covered Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live because I was waiting for the global release date to get announced. When Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live launched in Japan last year, a global version was confirmed to be in the works from Bushiroad. The rhythm adventure game aimed to build on the prior popular game with upgraded visuals, all songs from the Love Live! series, and more. Today, the official Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live confirmed that the global version is launching soon in February 2024 (with no specific date), but also confirmed that the game will be shutting down on May 31st. This is probably the weirdest announcement I’ve seen in many years for a global launch. The Japanese version was confirmed to end service by March 31st today as well.
Originally set for launching in December 2023, the game will now release soon in February. Pre-registrations are to go live today and you can check out the official website here if you’d like to play it for a few month before service ends. The announcement today also mentions in app purchases will be ceased accordingly for the shutdown date. I’m not sure who will even spend money on a game that is shutting down in a few months after launching. I’m curious why Bushiroad is even bothering launching the global version if it is being shut down this quickly. I figured even if the Japanese version was shutting down soon, the global version would run 9 months. I was wrong. Did you play the Japanese version of Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live or Love Live! School Idol Festival on iOS and Android while it was still available?
