Snap Into Some Scares in the Latest Season of ‘Marvel Snap’, Kicking Off Tomorrow

TouchArcade Rating:

With the tumultuous Loki for All Time season of Marvel Snap (Free) coming to a close soon, it’s just about time to usher in a new month of cards, locations, and other goodies. The previous season ended up being pure chaos, with Loki, Alioth, and Mobius M. Mobius all throwing the meta into complete disarray. What can we expect this month? Something a little darker, my friends. Bloodstone is incoming, and we might be in for another wild ride with the cards it’s bringing in. Let’s have a look at what the Bloodstone season has to offer ahead of its release tomorrow.

First up, the featured card. Elsa Bloodstone will be available to those who purchase the Season Pass, and she’s really something. She’s a 2-Cost 2-Power card, and once you’ve placed her, any card you play to fill a location will receive +3 Power. This is why Kitty got nerfed the other day, because you can just keep playing her to fill locations and buffing her up by +3 each turn. And you still can! That’s one obvious combination, but it’s safe to say there will be plenty of others found. She’s a natural fit for Bounce Decks, which could use a little help after the big nerfs a few months ago. In addition to Elsa, the Season Pass will also offer up variants for Ghost Rider and Blade. Plenty of other goodies to make it worth your ten bucks, too.

There are some other interesting cards incoming via the Token Shop and Spotlight Caches. Man-Thing is a 4-Cost 5-Power card with a rather nasty Ongoing ability. Once you’ve played him at a location, 1, 2, and 3-Cost cards there will have -2 Power. Woof! I expect Luke Cage’s popularity to go up a bit on the heels of this new card. Next, we’ve got Black Knight. A 1-Cost 2-Power card, Black Knight has a tricky ability. Once per game, when you discard a card, an Ebony Blade will be added to your hand with that card’s Power. The Blade itself has a cost of 4, so if you plan it right you could get something very strong at a slight Cost discount. I can see him doing well with Apocalypse decks.

Next up is Nico Minoru, a 1-Cost 2-Power card with the On Reveal ability to cast a spell after you play your next card. What spell? It changes each turn. Those spells range from moving cards to doubling their Power or even changing them into a Demon. Should be interesting, this one. The final new card will be dropping on Halloween, and it’s Werewolf By Night. He’s a 3-Cost 3-Power card, and once he in play if you put an On Reveal card down at another location, he’ll move there and gain +2 Power. Move deck players, rejoice!

There are a couple of new locations too, of course. The Abbey will allow the first player who puts exactly two cards on it to draw a card. Interesting, but not really a huge game changer, I think. Hotel Inferno seems a lot more chaotic. After you play a card on it, the top card of your opponent’s deck will be destroyed. That could help or hinder, depending on what you’re packing and up against. It should be fun. As usual, you can check out the video we’ve embedded with Second Dinner’s Ben Brode explaining all of this stuff in a far more entertaining way than I just did. I recommend it if you have time.

That’s about it for the main points of the Bloodstone season, though there will of course be plenty of new variants, bundles, and so on. It’s nice to see a spiffy Halloween-themed update for Marvel Snap, and these cards certainly look like they could throw a wrench in everyone’s strategies. That’s… that’s what we like, right? I can never tell. I know I’m looking forward to some of these cards. I’ve got to get my hands on that Werewolf By Night, at least. Look for our October deck building guide later this week after I’ve had some time to assess the impact of this new season.
