Nintendo’s Mario Kart Tour (Free) will no longer get new content following October 4th’s Battle Tour. This announcement (via OatmealDome on Twitter) reveals the game’s upcoming three tours, and confirms that it will no longer receive new gliders, drivers, courses, and karts. The future tours will feature content from prior tours only. The game is likely going into maintenance mode following the content coming early next month, but at least it isn’t ending service. Mario Kart Tour launched in September 2019, and has since been adding a plethora of new content and courses, which even made their way into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe through the game’s first paid DLC pass on Switch.
This news comes about a year after the game removed gacha elements. What’s interesting is that both Mario Kart Tour new content and the DLC pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are concluding around the same time. Hopefully we get a new mainline game right on time for the next Switch hardware. If you’ve not played Mario Kart Tour for a while or are considering playing it now while it is still getting a bit of new content, it is available for free on the App Store and Google Play.
