Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. I’m roasting over here in Japan, friends. We’re heading into that humid typhoon season, and that doesn’t go well with high temperatures. I’d like to say you can cool off with these hot updates, but that isn’t how any of this works. Maybe reading them will distract you from whatever extreme weather your part of the world is dealing with? Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Tiny Tower: Tap Idle Evolution, Free Tiny Tower players may have noticed that the sheer number of icons for ongoing events lately has been a bit troublesome. This latest update, which kicks off the summer event, also makes some massive changes to the UI to clean up the clutter. There are also some new customizations and such in here, as we usually see in these event updates. Seriously though, good job to the team on addressing that clutter. It was driving me bonkers.
Zookeeper World, Hm, I guess I can’t count this as the obligatory you-know-what, right? Rules are getting stricter on that lately. Well, I can still have it in here. There’s a new event going on in Zookeeper World, something that doesn’t happen as often as you might think. This one is for some reason space themed. Space zoos? Sure, that sounds appropriately rad. Clear the puzzle stages and get space-themed rewards. That seems very straightforward. I’ll leave you to it, then.
Disney Heroes: Battle Mode, Free Another update for this long-in-the-tooth Disney game means, as always, a new character has been added to the roster. Sometimes the cuts are deep. Sometimes they’re popular. And sometimes they’re Pegasus from Disney’s Hercules. Yes, that’s the one today. It’s Pegasus. The flying horse thing. I recall it had a bit of an attitude issue, but maybe I’m conflating it with Mulan’s cow. Still, one can imagine the usefulness of such a creature in combat. There are also some performance improvements and bug fixes in here, just to keep you on your toes.
Subway Surfers, Free The Subway Surfers kids are rolling on to Rio for the latest update for the game. Yutani can get a cool Harlequin Toad outfit, which will somehow help save the Amazon wildlife. The new board is the Jamanta Board, which can be powered up by heading underwater and collecting Event Coins. This will somehow help keep the oceans clean? I guess taking coins out of the water will help a little. Explore the Rainforest and you can unlock Super Scout Fernando as well. There’s even more in here, if you can believe it. I’ll let you check it out yourself if you’re interested, though.
Honkai Impact 3rd, Free These games are on a nice update rotation lately. That’s rather convenient for me. Anyway, we’ve got a new S-Rank Herrscher battlesuit called Herrscher of Rebirth. Switch between two forms as the situation calls for it. There are some summer events going on, and a new ELF has been added. You also get some new equipment, which might be useful. Oh, and there’s a new story chapter here as well. Certainly a handful of things to do to keep you busy until the next Genshin update, which I think is next week. Don’t quote me on that, though.
MARVEL Strike Force: Squad RPG, Free As usual with updates for Marvel Strike Force, this latest version contains a bunch of things that will be slowly released over the next little while. So don’t be alarmed if you fire it up today and you don’t see everything I mention here. Okay, on to the new stuff. New playable characters: Mockingbird, Ronin, Black Cat, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Photon, and Ms. Marvel (Hard Light). You can really tell that The Marvels was originally scheduled to release last week. There are also ability and stat upgrades for Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Jessica Jones, Spider-Woman, and Nico Minoru. Speaking of things that probably were supposed to be out now but got delayed, there are also some new Loki Season 2 costumes for Loki and Sylvie. Amusingly, this means you might have to watch out for spoilers for things happening in November of this year. Neat, neat. There are other things in here, but I’ll let you check the game if you’re interested.
Outlanders, This update to the Apple Arcade town builder adds a new chapter to the story. In Outlanders Chronicles Volume III, titled Life of Yolotli, we’ll meet a girl born in the jungles of the Outlands and follow her all the way through her life. That adds up to six new levels to play, which is not too shabby at all. I don’t have too much else to add to this description. I recommend just going and playing the new story if you’re interested. And, you know, if you have an Apple Arcade subscription.
Sonic Dash: Fun Endless Runner, Free Do note that this particular update was also applied to the Apple Arcade version of Sonic Dash. Let me check really quick if it was also added to the Netflix one. As far as I can see, it was not. Well, there you go. If you want to unlock and play as LEGO Sonic, LEGO Tails, and LEGO Amy, you’ll have to stick to the other two versions of Sonic Dash on the App Store. I still can’t figure out how the same game ended up on both subscription services, but I suppose it doesn’t really matter. LEGO Sonic! It seems the whole LEGO thing is going over well with Sonic fans. Or maybe the whole Sonic thing is going over well with LEGO fans. I’ll let you all sort that out.
Royal Match, Free Okay, now it’s time for the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update. I picked Royal Match this time, because King Robert amuses me. As usual, you get one hundred new puzzle stages to play. That is quite a lot. More than most will bother with in two weeks, I suspect. They’re tied up with a Porcelain Bar somehow, and there’s also a new area in the form of the Blacksmith. I feel like those two shouldn’t be mixed together. Or maybe they should. Don’t let King Robert in there, though. I can only imagine the horrifying situations he would find himself in.
Teeny Tiny Town, Free And here’s the last one for today. By process of elimination, I must give it the coveted UMMSotW award. Someone has to get it. This new version adds some new buildings, some graphical updates, iCloud support, and a bunch of bug fixes. What more could you want? That was a rhetorical question, please do not comment below with “Batman giving a T-Rex a German Suplex". Don’t you do it. I’m watching you. It’s a nice update with a little bit of something for everyone, except the people who want to see Batman giving a dinosaur a German Suplex.
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
