SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Cramped Room of Death’, ‘Ember Knights’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for July 19th, 2023. In today’s article, we’ve got several new releases to look at. Normally Wednesdays don’t have a lot going on, but we’ve got a couple of very promising-looking games in the bunch today plus a few other titles for funsies. After that, there’s a decent list of new sales to check out, plus a lengthy list of expiring sales. Not bad for what is usually a pretty quiet day. Let’s get to work!

New Releases

Cramped Room of Death ($14.99)

Hunh, Nicalis. Don’t see that name come up often on Switch these days. Anyway, this is a puzzle game of sorts where you’re trying to make your way through tight, trap-filled corridors. That job is made considerably harder by the fact that you’re carrying a big honkin’ spear, and unlike other games it doesn’t just clip through walls. You have to turn yourself around to move through the tight passages, and that may well leave you in a position where an enemy is in your path and you can’t point your spear at them. If you like games like this as much as I do (something you cannot possibly know, great phrasing Shaun), then you might want to give this a closer look.

Ember Knights ($19.99)

An action rogue-lite for up to four players via via local multiplayer. It received an extremely warm reception from players over on Steam, and I’ve little doubt it will have a similarly rosy response on Switch. There are six different weapons to wield, and you can apply nine different modifications to each of them. Throw in seventeen skills and eighty-five distinct relics and you can imagine the possibilities for varied character builds. Looks very promising, but I haven’t had a chance to play it yet so all I can do is speculate.

Spirit Hunters: Infinite Horde ($9.99)

You might be able to guess from the title, but this is yet another Vampire Survivors-inspired game sliding in before the real thing arrives on Switch soon. It seems fine as these things go, with eight different characters to unlock and use, lots of abilities to use, nine different maps to clear, and plenty of monsters to kill. If you can’t wait a few weeks for Vampire Survivors, this might tide you over.

Agriculture ($4.99)

Wow, that’s a terrible title. That’s a title you give your game if you don’t want anyone to be able to search it on the internet. And that’s too bad, because this game looks pretty fun. Instead of being a laid-back farming sim, this is a fast-paced farming action game. There are fifty stages and your goal in each is to grow the required crops as fast as you can. You can buy the things you need from a shop mid-stage, but you’ll need to watch your finances. Run out of cash or time, and that’s that.

The Bin Bunch

Metal Storm X ($7.99)

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

Gosh, the first three games in the inbox list just came out yesterday! I spy with my little eye a great new low price on Death Road to Canada, as well as a solid discount on the excellent, unique shoot-em-up NeverAwake. Some good deals for hidden object and room escape puzzle game fans in there too. The outbox has a bunch of great indie game deals in it, so make sure you comb through it carefully.

We’ll have summaries to let you know what is worth looking at and what you can safely discard, so do look forward to that. Whatever sales and big news roll in over the next day will be there as well. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
