SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Jailbreak: The Ultimate Escape’, Plus the Latest News and Sales

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for July 11th, 2023. Some days, this article is monstrously large. Yesterday was one of those days. Other days, there just isn’t a whole lot going on. Today is one of those days. I could have rushed one or two reviews, but I’d rather let them cook just a little longer. That leaves us at the mercy of today’s news, new releases, and sales. We have a little news to go over, so that’s something. One new release, which I suppose is better than nothing. A tight list of new sales, and a small list of expiring sales. Well, not much we can do but work with what we have. Let’s get to business!

Check Out Some New Characters in this ‘Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons’ Trailer

We’re on the cusp of the release of Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, the latest spin on the influential beat-em-up series. The game will be arriving on the Switch and other platforms on July 27th, and Modus Games has put out a new trailer that reveals even more playable characters. Already announced were Billy and Jimmy Lee, Marian, and new character Uncle Matin. They’ll be joined by long-time franchise baddies Abobo, Linda, Burnov, and Chin Tai Mei. This game is looking hot-hot-hot, and I can’t wait to see if it delivers the way I think it will.

New Releases

Jailbreak: The Ultimate Escape ($4.99)

This is a choice-based visual novel that follows the story of Randy Williams, a man who has been imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Or so he says. Anyway, you’ll make your choices and hopefully reach a happy resolution of some sort. The art isn’t exactly great, and neither is the writing. But it’s five dollars and it’s the only new release today, so it has that going for it.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

OlliOlli World and its DLC are at new low prices, and that’s a game you should pick up if you like to have fun. Also hitting a low price is Quest Hunter, and I think that the Deluxe Edition in particular is a bit of a steal if you have any interest in the concept at all. Fellow Traveler is having a sale, and I’ve included my favorites: Citizen Sleeper, Paradise Killer, and Beacon Pines. You really can’t go wrong with any of that publisher’s titles, though. 2K Games is also doing a partial sale, but you can probably guess exactly which games and what the prices look like if you’re a regular reader. Over in the outbox, Ubisoft’s latest sale is coming to a close. I also need to call out Untitled Goose Game, as that one doesn’t go on sale all that often. Check those lists!

That’s all for today, friends. We’ll be back tomorrow with more new releases, more sales, and perhaps a review if I’m feeling good about it. If there’s any big news, I’ll include that too. I’ll be honest: one of the reasons there was no review today is that I actually took a little Shaun Time and went for lunch with a couple of friends. I had some fried chicken and curry rice, and it was tasty as heck. No regrets. I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
