Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. You know, I really expected more Spider-Verse updates in the last week, but maybe they’re coming this week? I’ve nevertheless gathered up an assortment of disappointingly non-Spider-Man related updates for you to check out while contemplating pictures of Spider-Man. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!
Tiny Tower: Tap Idle Evolution, Free Another new Tiny Tower update, and another new type of activity to play with. You can now build six landmarks one step at a time, racking up rewards along the way. You’ll need stock from particular types of floors to build each stage, so you’ll need a nice variety of them to work from. Finish building them and you’ll get some regular rewards for your trouble. There are also some new gifts to get newcomers on their way, which is nice. Oh, and bug fixes and various improvements? You’re spoiling us.
Royal Match, Free Okay, let’s call this the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update for this week. Royal Match. That King Robert, he gets in a lot of trouble. I see the ads. He has a lot of problems for a member of the royalty, if you ask me. This update adds one hundred new levels to play, allowing you to dive into the new area of Atlantis. I’m not sure how Atlantis got into King Robert’s kingdom, but it is but one of a great many questions I have about this game.
June’s Journey: Hidden Objects, Free I suppose I could ask June for some help with the whole Royal Match mystery, but she seems perpetually busy. This time around, it’s a wedding! Not June’s, mind you. No time for love, Dr. Jones. So who is getting married? You’ll have to play the game to find out, but the one thing we can all be sure of is that you’ll be jabbing at various objects on the screen at some point in the ceremony. And isn’t that what it’s really all about in this game?
Subway Surfers, Free The Subway Surfers kids are on the move again, this time heading to New York City for a Pride celebration. Play the Season Hunt to unlock new character Rain and their Pride-themed board Color Shift. You can also get a new outfit for Moira to celebrate the trip to New York. There’s a New York Pride Calendar you can complete daily rewards on, and if you finish them all you’ll get Pride Bot as a prize. There are a few other events to join in on as the month goes on, as well. Fire up the game and check them out if you’re interested.
Pokémon HOME, Free Okay, yes. This is not a game. This is a companion app. Sometimes these things happen. Pokemon Home got a rather long-awaited update last week, adding support for the most recent Pokemon console game releases, Pokemon Violet and Pokemon Scarlet. Now you can transfer your Pokemon to and from that game, provided said Pokemon exists in that game. It’s all a little complicated, but then again it always has been. I’m glad the developers got this working before the expansion content arrives later this year. Okay, that’s my rule break for the day.
Vampire Survivors, Free In lieu of any proper Spidey content this week, I’ll have to give the coveted UMMSotW award to Vampire Survivors this week. It’s the coolest game. Anyway, this new version adds a couple of new relics that you’re probably going to enjoy: the Map of Mt. Moonspell and the Map of Lake Foscari. You can also opt to seal the Chaos Malachite relic if it’s bugging you. There are a bevy of fixes in here as well, which is very good. No one likes bugs ruining a good run, after all.
League of Legends: Wild Rift, Free The Playhem Update is here! The Playhem Update is here! At long last, the Playhem Update is here! Wait, what is the Playhem Update? Hm. Some new Champs named Ornn, Volibear, and Swain. A frosty new Dragon. Some new and updated items for marksmen. A new Wild Pass that offers up two new Ahri flavors. And a new event called Forge & Fury. Well, I guess I could get a little excited for all of that? It sounds fine? There are people who play this game every day reading this and getting very upset at me right now. I’m sorry. I’m a professional clown.
Sonic Dash+, Somehow we are in the year 2023 and SEGA is making references to Sonic & the Black Knight, one of the Wii-exclusive installments in the franchise that didn’t quite land with… well, I’m sure it landed with some people. But not a lot. At any rate, this new update adds a new character: Dragon Hunter Lancelot, who is just Shadow the Hedgehog in a cool knight suit. So if you want Shadow the Hedgehog in a cool knight suit in a game and don’t feel like dusting off the Wii in your parents’ closet, here you go.
WHAT THE GOLF?, Sometimes I do these updates articles and I learn about things I never knew before. For example, I did not know there was a World Bicycle Day. It’s June 3rd! Now you know too. But it’s too late, you missed it. Put away your Bicycle Tree and decorative Bicycle Horns. No Bicycle Day feast for you. But you can still celebrate a little late with this update for What the Golf?!, which adds an event that claims to be full of bicycles and golf things. Well, that’s about what I’d hope to see in a World Bicycle Day update for a golf game. Good work, developers.
Hungry Shark Evolution, Free I’ll have to be careful here, because sharks are not known for their sense of humor. Mostly teeth and that fin and the doo-DO music, really. So, Green Game Jam 2023. It’s a thing. And this update is somehow connected to it. Play a new mission where you return baby manta rays to their mother, defeat some evil fishermen and divers, and pick up some new Manta Ray pets, a Harpoon accessory, and a Friendship medal. Collect Manta Ray medals as you play to learn some critical Manta Ray facts, particularly with regards to the threats they face. Educational and entertaining? Believe it!
That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
