Perfect World Games has announced (via Gematsu) Persona 5: The Phantom X for iOS and Android. Persona 5: The Phantom X is a brand new mobile game based on the world of Persona 5. It is set in Tokyo featuring an original story of new phantom thieves. If you’ve not played Persona 5 yet, it was ported to all current platforms as of October 2022. Read Shaun’s review of the Switch version here. The announcement goes on to say that Persona 5: The Phantom X will follow the aesthetic of original IP with changes made to the playstyle and interface for mobile. Check out the official website here. As of now, Persona 5: The Phantom X doesn’t have a confirmed release date or Western release. It will be a free to play game with in app purchases and a playtest is planned for March 29 in China. More details are on the official website. I adore Persona 5 and it is surprising that it has taken so long for someone to work with Atlus on a mobile game based on it. We’ve had collaborations with many other games over the years, but Persona 5: The Phantom X is a full-fledged mobile game based on Persona 5. It is going to be interesting to see whether this gets a global release or not, and how it ends up doing on mobile in general. Have you played Persona 5 Royal yet and what do you think of Persona 5: The Phantom X?

This looks amazing! As it’s a game coming from and for China, the monetisation is probably atrocious, but it looks so visually faithful to the original that if it doesn’t make the game too awful for F2P users I would probably put up with it. Might VPN my way to China to give this a go.
I doubt it ever gets released in the West but if it does I would play it since I love the Persona series.
