Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for December 30th, 2022. In today’s article, we’re finishing up the year with a look at the two new releases that hit the eShop today along with another batch of sales. New Releases
Toy Soldiers HD ($29.99)
The well-loved XBLA tower defense game comes to the Switch via its HD remake. It’s a rather nice remake, too. You get all the classic levels to play, fully rebalanced. There are some new levels to dig into as well. You also get all the original DLC, which adds quite a bit to the game. You can play alone or go against another player in local or online multiplayer. If this is our last release of the year on Switch, we’re at least going out on a decent note.
Aircraft Carrier Survival ($19.99)
Ugh, that UI and tiny text is already giving me a headache. This is almost certainly a port of a PC game, and it doesn’t look like much care was put into making the conversion to Switch. You control an aircraft carrier in World War II and need to manage all manner of things from crew assignments to mission details. Steam reviews seem decidedly mixed on the quality of the game, so do with that what you will.

A few more games on the pile today. The most noteworthy sales are, in my opinion, Ultimate ADOM, the rarely on sale SNK titles such as NEOGEO Pocket Color Selection Vol. 1, and Inti-Creates’ superb Blaster Master and Bloodstained games. The weekend outbox has the Limited Run Games digital library in it, along with some other odds and ends. I already said it in the opening, but keep in mind that the big holiday sales finish up on Monday. Time to spend any extra money you have left after the holidays.
