Count me in for anything skateboard video game-related, and especially when something is described as “a love letter to the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games but with a mobile first focus" do my ears perk up. That’s what developers Jonathan Lanis and Resa Liptura, as well as publisher Noodlecake Games, are promising with their upcoming skating game Perfect Grind. This is a fully-featured skating game built with mobile devices in mind, and it features a super colorful and fun visual style as well as deep character customization and even a full-blown skatepark creator. Apparently you can even play the game with just one finger if you want. Check out the trailer to see Perfect Grind in action.
While this is the kind of game that seems ripe for some sort of scummy free to play monetization, that isn’t the case. Perfect Grind will indeed be free to download and offer the introductory levels to play as well some occasional advertising, but a one-time premium unlock IAP will remove all ads as well as give players access to all skateparks and missions, and even more importantly the full course creator. Created parks will be shareable with other players so expect plenty of content to play through once the entire community is able to get their hands on this. Perfect Grind is available for pre-order on the iOS App Store right now, and it’s currently in open beta on the Google Play Store for Android. It’s launch date is set for early next year on January 12th, and I’m pretty excited to check it out.
