Over the weekend, Mojang and Microsoft revealed quite a bit of new information for all things Minecraft ($6.99). If you’ve not kept up with the main game recently, we finally had the big ‘Wild update’ arrive alongside keyboard and mouse support on iOS. Minecraft Live 2022 saw the reveal of the big 1.20 update that has not been named yet. This update will bring in the camel mob, hanging signs, chiseled bookshelves, and crafting with bamboo. The team also revealed new default skins coming to the Minecraft launcher. Some of them are from the Wild Update trailers. Watch the Minecraft 1.20 update reveal below:
This year’s mob vote winner is the sniffer featuring eggs hidden in underwater ruins. The sniffer will help you find ancient seeds once it grows up. The Minecraft Marketplace will be getting Batman DLC featuring the Batcave, Wayne Tower, and more as you face off against Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and more. There is also a new Frozen Planet II DLC coming from Minecraft and BBC Earth. This DLC will be available on October 18. Other than announcements for the main Minecraft game, there were updates on Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends that are still not on mobile. I’m hoping the former does show up eventually. Details for the new content coming to these PC and console games are here. If you’ve not played Minecraft for a while, now is a great time to jump in. I’m curious to see how the main Minecraft game evolves in 2023. Have you played Minecraft recently on mobile on any other platform?
