It was one year ago that Konami announced three new Yu-Gi-Oh! games as well as another round of new content for the existing Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. That’s… that’s a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh! One of the new games was called Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel, and it launched for the Nintendo Switch last December. Well technically its full name is Yu-Gi-Oh! RUSH DUEL: Dawn of the Battle Royale!! and earlier this week a follow-up was announced with an even more ridiculous title: Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel: Dawn of the Battle Royale!! Let’s Go! Go Rush!! Holy moly that name.
Anyway, I’m getting a bit off track, because what I really want to talk about are the other two of the three new games announced last year, both of which are for mobile. First was Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel which launched on mobile, consoles, and PC this past February. The other new game was called Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel and, at the time of its announcement last year, we didn’t know beans about it. But now, as of this week, we know all sorts of beans about Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel, thanks in part to this lengthy new overview trailer.
I’m going to be straight with you: I don’t know the first thing about these Yu-Gi-Oh! games. I honestly couldn’t be more confused by all the different titles mentioned above, and I probably couldn’t tell you what makes this newest game any different from the rest. Is it the 4-player battles? Is that something unique to Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel? I know there are probably Yu-Gi-Oh! aficionados reading this fuming right now, because obviously all these games have their unique elements and strengths, and obviously they’re pretty popular games to be making so many of them and to be supporting them for so long. So just mark this up to an old man yelling at clouds, and if you’re excited for Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel you can find out more information and pre-register over on the game’s website.
