Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for June 15th, 2022. In today’s article, we’ve got a surprisingly decent-sized list of new games to check out. I mean, it’s not much compared to tomorrow, but it’s not bad by Wednesday standards. After that, we’ve got the usual lists of new and outgoing sales for you to look at. That’s about it, as I spent half of my day at the hospital. Let’s get down to business!
New Releases
Dadish 3 ($9.99)
SwitchArcade Highlight!
The Dadish games are simply lovely little 2D platformers. They don’t try to reinvent the wheel and are content to deliver some solid fun along with a bevy of bad jokes. Here’s a third one! It has fifty new levels to play, and Dadish’s ex-wife (she’s a tomato) even pitches in from time to time. Given how much I enjoyed the first two games, this one is an easy pick-up for me.
Thunder Kid II: Null Mission ($7.99)
The distinctive brand of low-poly 3D action found in Thunder Kid returns in this sequel. Take control of Thunder Kid on a mission to rescue hostages and take down the evil Robot Empire once more. Nothing particularly new gameplay-wise here, but if you enjoyed the first one I’d imagine you’ll be happy to just have another game’s worth of blasting ahead of you.
Ye OLDE Cribbage Club: A Later Daters Game ($5.99)
This is a spin-off of Later Daters, the dating sim where all the eligible partners are senior citizens. You won’t be doing much courting in this one, however. It’s a single-player cribbage game where you’ll be playing against many of the characters from Later Daters, chatting with them and hearing their stories as you go. Cribbage is a pretty fun game, and I suppose this is priced right for what it offers.
Raft Life ($9.99)
Okay, I’m not going to say that this looks amazing or anything, but it doesn’t look bad for what it is. After your boat goes under, you wake up on a raft. It’s going to be your new home, and it can become surprisingly fancy over time. You can basically make a mobile island out of the thing. The game itself mostly consists of a variety of minigames that you’ll have to complete in order to finish different tasks. Again, I wouldn’t call this a revelation by any means, but it seems fine.
Bike Jump ($9.99)
BoomHits has another weird extreme take on driving for us today. This time you’re a stunt bike rider. You have to go down the ramp as fast as you can, catch as much air as possible, and if you really want to sell it, jump off of your bike (in mid-air mind you) and continue to soar through the air with your jetpack. I cannot deny: that sounds rad as heck.
Snake of Maths! Cool Education Game ($2.99)
More junk from Cooking & Publishing. It’s Snake, but with math problems. Choose the correct answer by eating it and the snake gets bigger. Choose the wrong one and the snake gets smaller. The first rule of cool is that calling yourself cool means that you are, in fact, not cool.
Sales
(North American eShop, US Prices)
Certainly a few games worth considering in that list of new sales. Celeste, Stardew Valley, and TowerFall are all proper classics that I’m sure most of you own by now, but if you don’t, here’s a good opportunity. Speaking of, the absolute buffet of carnage that is Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is at its lowest price yet. If you’ve got room on your Switch’s memory for a 30+ GB game, you really can’t go wrong with it. Over in the outbox, we’ve got sales ending from the likes of Kemco, ININ Games, Circle Entertainment, and Team 17. Best to have a good look at that bunch, friends. There are a lot of great titles to pick up if you’ve got the cheddar.
