SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Radirgy Swag’, ‘PICROSS S7’, ‘dweeMIXED: Thwee Pack’, Plus More New Releases and Sales

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for January 11th, 2022. In today’s article, we’ve got several new releases to check out. The long absent Dispatch Games seems to have woken up and dropped a couple of games people have been waiting years for, and the latest PICROSS S release has made its appearance as well. There are a few other fun surprises in the list, plus some new and expiring sales to ponder. Rather busy for a Tuesday, but I suppose that’s how things go from time to time. Let’s wade in!

New Releases

Radirgy Swag ($19.99)

If you like shoot-em-ups but are tired of the same-old, you may find Radirgy Swag to be just what the doctor ordered. Sure, it looks a bit like a normal vertical shooter, but the mechanics of Radirgy Swag force you to spend almost as much time juggling pick-ups as you do shooting down foes. In that sense, I suppose there’s a hint of TwinBee to its action, though it is very much its own thing in terms of feel and moment-to-moment action. This game has been available on the Switch in Japan for years now, but those who want an English version digitally can finally get their hands on it.

Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto ($49.99)

Test your train driving skills in this latest entry in the Japanese Rail Sim series. You’ll have to run the Kurama Line and the Eizan Line, going at the appropriate speeds and making the necessary stops. Rather than attempt to recreate environments with polygons, the scenery you’ll see is actually full-motion video taken from the real lines. You’re either into things like these, or you aren’t. I’ll leave the decision to you.

PICROSS S7 ($9.99)

We’re at the seventh game in this line now, surely there isn’t anything new to talk about. Wait… did they? They did! As of this installment, Picross S now supports touch controls! Way late to the party on that, but I’m glad to see it. Hopefully they patch it into the previous releases, but I won’t hold my breath on that. As for the numbers: three hundred Picross and Mega Picross puzzles, one hundred and fifty Clip Picross puzzles, thirty Color Picross puzzles, and five Extra puzzles. As usual, those who have data from previous games in the series will get a few extra puzzles to play.

dweeMIXED: Thwee Pack ($19.99)

I can’t say that I have heard of developer magicdweedoo before, but a little investigation tells me that its quirky games have a dedicated following. As the title says, this release includes three games: Ticket, Mealmates, and New Ice York. The first is apparently a platformer of sorts, the second is a Wario Ware-style minigame collection, and the last is something of an adventure game. You also get a sound test to enjoy each game’s soundtrack to its fullest. While I’m not sure about the other two, Mealmates does seem to offer local multiplayer support for up to four people. Oh, and if you have played these before? There’s some new content in all of the games to discover.

Lost Lands: Redemption ($6.99)

Susan the Warmaiden heads off on yet another hidden object adventure in the Lost Lands, and she needs your help. The latest threat not only presents a danger to the Lost Lands, but Earth as well. Susan heads back to her home only to find time has passed differently, and her son is not too impressed by his mother’s vanishing act. You’ll have to take care of the deadly forces of darkness while also mending fences with your family. And you’ll do it all by solving hidden object puzzles, of course.

Ellada Games RPG Bundle ($39.99)

Just what it claims to be. You get three releases from Ellada Games in one set here. Niffelheim, Spaceland, and Braveland Trilogy can be scored in one convenient purchase. You might even save some money doing so, depending on whether or not the individual releases are on sale at the moment or not.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

That list of new sales is almost the very picture of the usual suspects. But have a look anyway and see if there’s something in there you care about. As for the outbox, you’ve got the Crysis games, a number of titles from FDG Entertainment, and a couple of other bits and bobs. There are certainly good games there, if you feel like you need something. Just nothing extremely out of the ordinary.
