Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 22nd, 2021. Not too much going on today, but I suppose that’s alright. We’ve got the usual Super Smash Bros. Finally, the ever-reliable lists of incoming and outgoing sales for you to hem and haw over, perhaps while scratching your chin. Let’s get going!

Stop and Smell the Flowers in the Next ‘Super Smash Bros.’ Event

It feels like it’s been a million years since last Wednesday, friends. For me, anyway. But here we are, and it’s time for the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate event announcement. This weekend’s event is a Spirit Board following a flower theme. Flowery and flower-adjacent spirits will appear more often, and beating them up will put more gold in your pockets. The event kicks off on Friday and runs for the usual three days over the weekend.

New Releases

Grisaia Phantom Trigger 06 ($14.99)

Here’s the latest chapter in this series of pure narrative visual novels. No choices at all, so don’t expect any. The set-up for this one is that Haruto and the others are making their way to a mountain summit where Haruto’s master Aoi lies. A lot of the mysteries behind the Academy will be revealed, along with how Aoi met her final fate. I’d assume that if you’ve come this far in the series, you don’t need my input on whether or not to buy this. And if you’re new to the series, absolutely do not start here.

Crisis Wing ($7.99)

Here’s a new vertical shoot-em-up from the folks at eastasiasoft and Pieslice Productions. It’s an homage to the arcade classics, as these things often are. There are seven stages to blast your way through either alone or with a friend via local multiplayer. In addition to the main game, there’s a Practice mode with infinite lives, a Score Attack mode where you try to rack up as many points as you can, and a Boss Rush mode. I haven’t had a chance to play this one yet, but it looks promising enough.

Cube Samurai: Run Squared ($4.99)

Wow, this is a completely run-of-the-mill endless auto-runner. They still make these in 2021, friends. Run, jump, slash, and slam as you collect coins and use all of the usual power-ups to go as far as you can. Well, at least it’s cheap.

Top Boat: Racing Simulator 3D ($5.99)

You might think this is a standard boat racing game, but it’s actually more or less just CSR Racing on water. Control the gear shifts and boost, using them with the right timing to pull ahead and win. There are more than twenty-five customizable boats spread across a variety of classes. As long as you know what you’re getting into, you might enjoy this. I’m personally not big on this type of racer, though.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

I hope you like singing! All of the Let’s Sing games are on sale right now, and if you like singing songs at your phone while watching videos on your Switch, you really can’t go wrong with any of them. The Queen one is probably best. Arc System Works is doing another sale on many of its games, and as usual I will recommend the Double Dragon and Kunio-kun Retro Brawler Bundle. Some interesting stuff in the outbox as well, but I will leave that one to you to sort through.

That’s all for today, friends. I’ll be back tomorrow with a big bag of new releases including Diablo II: Resurrected and more. We’ll have summaries of all of them, plus whatever sales come along. If there’s any huge news, we’ll have that as well of course. But given tomorrow is a holiday here in Japan, I’m not expecting much. I hope you all have a great Wednesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
