Last year developer Robot Pumpkin Games, in conjunction with publisher Assemble Entertainment, released their debut title The Innsmouth Case ($0.99) across mobile, console, and PC platforms. The HP Lovecraft-inspired text-based choose your own adventure garnered a positive reception for its dark humor and ability to view the typically disturbing world of Lovecraftian horrors through a more lighthearted lens. Now Robot Pumpkin and Assemble are back once again with a new text adventure game, this time trading in the comedic horror for a silly story about aliens and Bavarian stereotypes. It’s called Plan B From Outer Space: A Bavarian Odyssey and you can get a pretty good idea of the vibe it’s going for by checking out this announcement trailer.
Beer, pretzels, local milk cows… it’s all here. Plan B From Outer Space has you playing as an alien who crash lands in Bavaria and who must use your ability to shape-shift to blend in to the local Bavarian scene long enough to find a way to get back to your home planet. The problem is that there is one local who witnessed your crash landing and is on to your scheme, and he is ready to stop you at all costs. Even worse is that this dude totally sounds like The Terminator. Like The Innsmouth Case you’ll choose from multiple paths and options along this adventure, and your choices can result in any of 19 different endings. It sounds like a lot of fun, so keep an eye to the skies for when Plan B From Outer Space: A Bavarian Odyssey crash lands on iOS, Android, and Steam this fall.
