SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘A-Train: All Aboard! Tourism’, ‘Pinkman+’, and Today’s Other New Releases and Sales

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for March 12th, 2021. In today’s article, we’ve got a handful of new releases to look at. There are summaries of each of the new games, including the urban planning sim A-Train: All Aboard! Tourism, the affordable and enjoyable platformer Pinkman+, and more. We’ve also got the latest sales, the highlights of which are a very lovely bunch of Square Enix games. Let’s get moving!

New Releases

A-Train: All Aboard! Tourism ($59.99)

SwitchArcade Highlight!

Artdink’s excellent sim series makes its way to the Switch in style with A-Train: All Aboard! Tourism. You’re the president of a railway company and you need to lay down tracks and run the trains. That’s not all, though. You need to do some urban planning, manage your subsidiaries, play the stock market, and participate in general development of the town around your trains. The big new element, true to the name, is tourism. You’ll need to do whatever you can to turn your city into a big tourism capital. You’re not entirely on your own, either. You have a bunch of helpful advisors to point you in the right direction should you need some tips. I always have a good time with these games, and I’m looking forward to digging into this one.

Pinkman+ ($4.99)

SwitchArcade Highlight!

Pinkman+ is a game about a man who is pink. It’s one of those challenging platformers where you need to run, jump, and in this case jetpack your way through minimalistic stages filled with obstacles and traps. There are 100 levels in total, with multiple color palettes and trap types to deal with. The “+" in the title refers to new features like checkpoint saves, a speedrun timer, and some new color palettes. Nothing too fancy, but what’s here works very well and for five dollars I think that’s enough.

Sokodice ($5.99)

In this puzzle game, you need to roll the dice around each stage and make sure they land on the goal spaces with the appropriate number facing up. It’s a twist on the old Sokoban concept, albeit one we’ve seen before in similar forms. There are more than 100 levels to play, and there are different dice that have different abilities to mix things up. It’s all wrapped up in a relaxing visual style with some pleasant tunes, making for a rather nice little puzzler for you to chew on if you’re on the hunt for one.

Rev Up! RC Grand Prix ($13.26)

From the developer behind all those Desktop sports games and several other games comes this reasonably well-featured RC car racing game. You get a single-player Free Race Mode, a Grand Prix Mode with four courses, local multiplayer Grand Prix and Party Modes for up to six players via a splitscreen, a vehicle customization mode, and a course creator. As you play, you’ll earn points that you can use in an in-game shop to buy new vehicles. There are more than 120 in total, with buggies, rally cars, trucks, formula racing cars, motorcycles, and others. I’m sure it will be pretty fun with a fair share of rough edges, just like the other games from this developer.

Offroad Driving Simulator 4×4: Trucks & SUV Trophy ($9.99)

Another relatively mediocre free-to-play mobile driving game makes its way onto the Switch with an upfront price tag and not much to show for it. Drive a variety of trucks and SUVs through four regions of off-road terrain. Deserts, forests, mud roads, and snowy areas await, each with a number of missions and challenges you can complete for rewards. Upgrade your gear and use special mechanisms to complete your tasks. You can play this for free on your mobile device if you want to check it out ahead of time. There’s clearly a market for this sort of thing or else they wouldn’t keep making them, but I’m definitely not it.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

There are some good ones in today’s list, no doubt. The big eye-catcher is the latest round of Square Enix sales, with the majority of the company’s excellent RPGs discounted significantly. You really can’t go wrong with any of them, but be sure to give SaGa Scarlet Grace and Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon a little love, eh? Setting those games aside, the Torchlight series is also quite nice, and Chasm is a lovely little Metroidvania if you’re on the hunt for one. Also note the weekend outbox, as the Mario Day sales are wrapping up. Nintendo doesn’t do first party sales terribly often, so grab them if you want them. Oh, and Lair of the Clockwork God is a great game and should certainly be bought at that sale price. Check the list, friends.
