‘Minecraft Earth’ Is Shutting Down in June, Final Update Available Now on iOS and Android

TouchArcade Rating:

Minecraft Earth (Free) has been getting a lot of new content every week or so through updates on iOS and Android. Each Minecraft Earth update usually brings in a new challenge season, new mobs, variants, and sometimes new features. Today’s Minecraft Earth update arrives alongside the announcement that the game is shutting down in June 2021. Minecraft Earth‘s R33 or 0.33.0 update is the final build for the game and it includes all unreleased content the team was planning for Minecraft Earth. The announcement mentions that Minecraft Earth was struggling with the current global situation since the game was designed around free movement and collaboration between players. On June 30th, you will no longer be able to download or play Minecraft Earth anymore. On July 1st, all data unrelated to Character Creator and Minecraft entitlements will be deleted. All players who have paid ruby balances will be given Minecoins for use in the Minecraft Marketplace. Anyone who has made a purchase in Minecraft Earth will be given a free copy of Minecraft (Bedrock version). More details are here. This announcement is pretty surprising considering the game was only announced in May 2019. If you still play it, today’s update brings reduced costs, crafting times, and the Super Season. It also includes the Fuzzy Sheep, Cream Cow, Sooty Pig, Mottled Pig, Umbra Cow, and more mobs and variants.
