‘Bleak Sword’ Just Got Its First Big Content Update since Launch Bringing in New Levels, Enemies, Music, and More

TouchArcade Rating:

Bleak Sword () debuted on Apple Arcade alongside the launch on the service last year. Devolver Digital and more8bit’s Bleak Sword feels fantastic to play on touchscreens and it remains one of my favourite games on the service. With a lot of Apple Arcade games getting updated with post launch content, Bleak Sword was seemingly done at launch. That changed today with Bleak Sword 2.1 which is the game’s first big update since launch bringing in a lot of new content and a new save system. Bleak Sword now has a new chapter with new levels that can be accessed from the extras menu. There are new tracks from Jim Guthrie (maybe we will get a Vinyl release in 2021) and one new boss and new enemies as well in this update. Watch the Bleak Sword trailer below:

Bleak Sword remains one of the best examples of how to handle action combat on a touchscreen. Read our review of the original release on Apple Arcade here. We even featured it as one of the best games of 2019. Check out our forum thread here for more discussion around Bleak Sword. With a lot of Apple Arcade games getting ported to other systems with Grindstone being the biggest recent one, I wonder how long before we see Bleak Sword on Nintendo Switch. In most cases, I just want these games to get a Switch release so a physical edition is possible. If you haven’t played Bleak Sword yet and are on Apple Arcade, you can get it here. For all other Apple Arcade related things, check out our dedicated Apple Arcade forum for discussion on the service and every game included here. What do you think of the newly released games from the last few weeks?
