SteamWorld Quest ($0.99) from Image & Form debuted on Nintendo Switch back in April last year. Unlike the SteamWorld Dig games or SteamWorld Heist, SteamWorld Quest was a deck building turn based tactical RPG hybrid. The original SteamWorld Dig was really good but the sequel SteamWorld Dig 2 was almost perfect for me. SteamWorld Heist was better than the first SteamWorld Dig and it already showed players that Image & Form can switch the genre and still do the SteamWorld name justice. SteamWorld Quest was a big surprise for me back when I played it on Nintendo Switch. Read Shaun’s full review of that version here. Ever since that release, SteamWorld Quest has been updated with new features and content. Today, it just got a surprise release on iOS as a premium port. Watch the SteamWorld Quest trailer below:
When SteamWorld Quest launched on Switch, I was disappointed with the lack of touchscreen support considering SteamWorld Heist had it. SteamWorld Quest also felt like the perfect game to port to mobile eventually and here we are. The superb card-battling gameplay, brilliant visuals, and excellent music are all now on iOS with today’s release. SteamWorld Quest is priced at $24.99 on Nintendo Switch and PC. It is out now on the App Store for iOS for $9.99 and requires iOS 13 and later. An Android release isn’t planned as of now but the developers aren’t ruling one out eventually. Games in this genre always feel perfect to play on iPad so I can’t wait to play this later today. 2020 has been a crazy year for obvious reasons but it feels like a fantastic year to play games on mobile with the sheer quality of great conversions and new releases that have arrived over the last few months. Have you played SteamWorld Quest yet on any platform and what is your favourite SteamWorld game?
