At TGS 2019, Shaun tried Ys VIII Mobile. Ys VIII Mobile is a mobile conversion of Nihon Falcom’s amazing action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. Ys VIII Mobile was announced a while ago and it was even revealed to be getting a worldwide release. At TGS 2020, Linekong Entertainment showed off extended footage for Ys VIII Mobile giving us a look at how locations from the original game appear in the mobile conversion, character models, and more. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is one of my favourite games ever and I’ve played it on every system. The live stream below has a trailer at 12:40, locations in Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana and character models at 33:46, footage of Rucol who is a new character from 42:03 onwards. A lot of the visuals have been changed with higher quality effects but the character model lighting seems a bit weird as of now. Hopefully it can improve ahead of the launch. Watch it below:
As of now Linekong Entertainment haven’t announced a release date. It was previously set for a worldwide release in 2020. That hasn’t changed with TGS 2020. It still doesn’t have a confirmed release date. Ever since Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana was released internationally through NIS America, it has only grown the Falcom fanbase with new platforms like the Nintendo Switch and a PC port that went from being a terrible way to play Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana to the best version of the game. I’m curious to see how Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is on mobile when it releases worldwide in 2020. What do you think of the Ys VIII Mobile footage with new character models and animations compared to the original game if you’ve played it?
