A few days ago, Bethesda released major updates for the fantastic DOOM ($4.99) and DOOM II ($4.99) on the App Store and Google Play. These updates brought in a ton of new features and content for both games on all platforms but the iOS (and PS4 to some extent) release had issues specifically on iPhone. On iPad, there are no issues right now but the iPhone version has touchscreen controls that haven’t scaled properly and get cropped to some extent while also covering most of the gameplay. There’s no way to fix this on your own as of now. Bethesda will likely push updates out to fix this and make the games available once again. Check out how it looks on my iPhone 11 below:
As of this writing, the update and games are live on all platforms but they have been pulled on iOS and Bethesda is working to resolve the issues. Details for everything the updates added on all platforms are here. These updates are excellent on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One as of now. The PS4 version brings up tiny touch controls if you hit the touchpad. This needs to be fixed as well. On PC, Bethesda updated both games on Steam to allow players to either play the old DOS versions or the new ones through a launcher. The games are still in your purchases on iOS. Hopefully Bethesda can resolve the control issues soon. Have you been playing DOOM II and DOOM through these new releases on any platform and did you manage trying out the update?
