Back in October NetMarble brought The King of Fighters ALLSTAR (Free) to the App Store, a free to play collect-a-thon featuring iconic characters from throughout the more than 25 year history of the King of Fighters series wrapped up in a surprisingly cool side-scrolling beat ’em up game built for mobile. Since its release The King of Fighters ALLSTAR has proven to be incredibly popular, and Netmarble has done a great job of updating the game with new characters and features in that time. However, starting tomorrow The King of Fighters ALLSTAR will be getting a crossover with one of the biggest names in both sports and entertainment. That’s right, the WWE is invading the world of King of Fighters and bringing The Rock, John Cena, Undertaker, Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, and Kofi Kingston into the mix.
In the world of crazy brand crossovers, The King of Fighters mixing it up with WWE wouldn’t have even been on my radar, but you have to admit that the larger than life Superstars of the WWE sure do fit right into a side-scrolling beat ’em up. It’s not just the Superstars themselves though, as there will also be some WWE-themed events and modes in The King of Fighters ALLSTAR as part of this collaboration. This will include a special Time Attack Mode where players compete by taking control of WWE Superstars and clearing three powerful bosses in a row; a WWE-Themed Summon Banner where players can obtain Superstars via two new Banners; a Super Mission where players can obtain The Rock; a WWE-Themed Rush Event Dungeon where Kofi Kingston is obtainable and a WWE-themed Mini-Dungeon that features various rewards; and WWE-Themed Roulette where players can spin a new Roulette Wheel for a chance to unlock ‘The Doctor of Thuganomics’ John Cena. The whole shebang kicks off tomorrow so be sure to check it out.
