Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for May 5th, 2020. It’s a bit of a shorter one today, but we do have some news to look through alongside the pair of new releases that hit the eShop today. Well, things are bound to pick up soon enough, friends. Let’s enjoy the quiet day for now. If nothing else, there are some sales to look through. I’m sure we’ll find some way to spend all of our money, dear readers. Let’s give it our best!

News

‘Umihara Kawase BaZooKa!’ Coming West in July

Somewhat surprisingly, it appears that the latest game in the Umihara Kawase series will be coming west via ININ Games. Set to launch in July of this year, Umihara Kawase BaZooKa is actually a party game spin-off of the cult favorite hook-and-swing franchise. It features characters from a number of different games, including Cotton, Ring Dream, Doki Doki Poyacchio, and of course Umihara Kawase. There are 22 characters in all, and plenty of modes to keep you and your friends busy for quite a while. I’ll likely have a review of this one once it hits, so keep your eyes open for more details as it gets closer to release.

‘Bloodstained’ Update Hitting Switch in Late May/Early June

Remember when there was all that noise about Bloodstained‘s Switch release hitting feature parity with the other versions? Well, that was a nice few months. This week, the already-announced update containing new playable character Zangetsu and the cool-looking Randomizer mode will be hitting just about every platform. I say “just about every" because the one platform that won’t be seeing that update this week is the Switch. We shouldn’t have to wait too long, though. 505 Games has said Switch owners can expect the update in late May or Early June. Alrighty.

New Releases

Tonight We Riot ($15.00)

Well, this is an interesting one. It’s kind of a side-scrolling action game where you control a group of rioting people as they strike back against the corporations, billionaires, and oppressive structures that have been grinding them down for too long. This one goes in pretty hard on its political stance, so if you are sensitive to such issues you’ll probably want to steer clear. There’s support for couch co-op and a bunch of unlockables, and in spite of the heavy topic the game has a quirky sense of humor to it. Wood-chippers that probably won’t be used for their intended purpose? Delivering throat-punches to billionaires who have no compunctions about screwing over the world just to add another sack of money to their already-monumental pile? Giant monsters and corporate mecha-HQs? Yeah, this game has all that.

The Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game ($16.99)

This is a video game version of a real cooperative card game based on The Dresden Files. Well, there we go. I can go home now, nothing more to tell. What? I have to fill out a whole paragraph? This introduction can only go for so long and sooner or later I have to say something of substance about the game itself? Ugh, fine. From what I can gather this version is quite faithful to the original physical game, so it basically comes down to how well you enjoy that game. Reviews on the card game are generally positive, though not overwhelmingly so. At the very least this port has online multiplayer support, so you won’t be wanting for allies.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

Pinball! That’s the theme for many of today’s sales. Unfortunately, most of the pinball games in the list today are not very good at all. But one of them is quite enjoyable: Demon’s Tilt. This isn’t a new low for the game or anything, as it has been on sale at this price before. But if you miss games like Alien Crush or Devil’s Crush, you won’t be unhappy at all with Demon’s Tilt. The discount only makes it sweeter. As for the outbox, I’d highly advise grabbing Flashback for a dollar. I doubt it’s going to go that low again anytime soon.

We’ll also have some new releases, news, and probably at least a handful of new sales to check out. I hope you all have an excellent Tuesday, and as always, thanks for reading!
