Back in July, Square Enix surprised most people with an update to Dragon Quest V ($14.99) that added support for iPhone X screen sizes (and later). This update also had a new casino prize that let you recruit monsters easily. That update arrived three years after the last one. When I wrote about that update, I was hoping updates for the others would follow soon. Square Enix finally updated both Dragon Quest VI ($14.99) and Dragon Quest IV ($14.99) with iPhone X screen size (and later) support.
With these two updates, all the mainline Dragon Quest games now support iPhone X screen size (and later) on iOS. I hope Dragon Quest VII gets localised soon since the game has been long out of print on Nintendo 3DS and it doesn’t look like these are getting ported anywhere else outside of mobile. The Nintendo Switch ports of the first three games aren’t the best way to play those either with the mobile versions being better experiences on a technical level. If you’ve been waiting on proper iPhone X screen size support for both Dragon Quest IV and Dragon Quest VI, now is the time to get them. If you aren’t sure about the games, read Shaun’s reviews for them here and here. What’s your favourite mobile Dragon Quest game and have you played Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch yet?
