In May of last year we were shocked to learn that Pinball Arcade developer Farsight had lost the licenses to their collection of Bally-Midway pinball tables and that those tables would subsequently be removed from the game forever. At the same time, we wondered who would take their place as the license holders to those Bally-Midway classics and once again bring forth their digital versions. It was only a few months later that we had our answer, as longtime digital pinball purveyors Zen Studios had nabbed said license and would be publishing their own versions of Bally-Midway classics in the future. This came in the form of the Williams Pinball (Free) app which was released at the beginning of this year, and to celebrate Halloween Zen will be releasing a pack of two Williams classics on October 29th: Monster Bash and Creature from the Black Lagoon. Here are those tables in action.
As with Zen’s previous tables in the Bally-Williams collection, there will be a classic mode that lets you play the tables simulated just as they were in real life, and then there will also be a remastered mode which changes up some of the table features and adds all of the crazy 3D graphics and effects that Zen Studios is known for in their pinball games. They look awesome in the video above, and on console and PC they’ll be released as the Universal Monsters Pack DLC which you can just pay for and play. On mobile we have to deal with the convoluted Williams Pinball app that features a wacky free to play unlocking system that I still don’t fully understand even after nearly a year of the game being out. If you’re prepared to brave those waters then check out the Universal Monsters Pack when it hits Williams Pinball on October 29th, otherwise check out the same pack in Pinball FX 3 on other platforms the same day and save your sanity.
